Commure + Athelas is hiring a Head of Design. In this role, you’ll be setting the standards for what great experiences for patients and healthcare providers can look like. You will lead our design organization, shaping the vision and strategy for how design drives our mission. You will oversee product design, user experience, brand, and creative direction, ensuring our solutions resonate with our users and stand out in the healthcare technology space. You will collaborate closely with product, engineering, marketing, and executive teams to deliver world-class experiences that transform how healthcare is delivered and experienced. You’ll be working on some of the most important products in the space including:

• Ambient AI assistants that simplify a doctor’s day and reduce burnout.

• Redesigned patient experiences that allow patients to truly take care of their own health digitally.

• EHRs and practice management software to radically simplify how easy it is to start and run a healthcare practice.

• Infrastructure to allow Health Systems to build, manage, and deploy their own software and products.

• Define and articulate a design vision aligned with Commure + Athelas’ mission and business goals.

• Establish and champion a user-centered design culture across the organization.

• Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to integrate design into product strategy and development processes.

• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing, diverse, and inclusive design team.

• Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• Oversee the end-to-end design process, ensuring the delivery of intuitive, innovative, and accessible user experiences.

• Drive consistency and excellence in product design, branding, and marketing materials.

• Ensure design outputs are data-informed, scalable, and aligned with user and business needs.

• Stay ahead of industry trends, tools, and best practices to keep Commure + Athelas at the forefront of design and technology.

• Advocate for design as a strategic differentiator in achieving business outcomes.

• Represent the voice of the user in executive discussions and decision-making.

• Proven experience (7+ years) in design leadership roles, preferably in healthcare, technology, or SaaS industries.

• A strong portfolio showcasing expertise in product design, UX/UI, and branding.

• Exceptional leadership skills with a track record of building and scaling design teams.

• Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.

• Strong communication and storytelling abilities to articulate design strategies and decisions.

• Experience collaborating with product, engineering, and marketing teams in agile environments.

• Passion for solving complex problems in the healthcare space and creating meaningful impact.
