About the role

As the Head of Finance, you will build and lead Braintrust’s finance function from the ground up. You’ll sit at the center of our most critical decisions, owning planning, stress-testing bets, and partnering directly with our leadership team to allocate capital against our biggest opportunities.

You’ll play a critical role in how Braintrust scales. In the early stages, this is a hands-on role where you will build financial models, manage forecasting, and establish operational discipline. Over time, you will define our strategic finance function, build repeatable processes, and scale a high-performing team.

You’ll partner closely with GTM, Marketing, Engineering, and Operations to ensure decisions are grounded in sound economic principles and long-term value creation, while feeding insights back into how we improve our business model.

What you’ll do
  • Strategic Planning & Forecasting: Manage forecasting, financial planning, and capital allocation. Own our quarterly and annual planning cycle end-to-end, guiding overall company strategy and resource allocation.

  • Financial Discipline & Budgeting: Ensure financial discipline and set budgets across the organization. Establish and uphold rigorous financial principles, ensuring teams make decisions grounded in strong unit economics.

  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor KPIs and performance across teams and the overall company. Build dashboards and identify the right levers to accelerate growth and efficiency.

  • Headcount & Hiring Strategy: Collaborate closely with the recruiting team and managers on headcount planning, hiring prioritization, and organizational scaling.

  • Treasury & Cash Management: Manage treasury strategy, monitor cash flow, and optimize our capital structure to support hyper-growth.

  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Operate cross-functionally by design, partnering deeply with Sales, Marketing, and Engineering, to ensure aligned priorities and data-driven decision-making.

  • Board & Investor Relations: Create materials for our Board meetings and serve as a key partner on future fundraising processes, communicating our financial performance and long-term strategy.

Ideal candidate credentials
  • Experience: 8-12+ years of progressive finance experience in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Corporate Finance, or Investment Banking, ideally within a high-growth B2B SaaS or AI technology company.

  • Leadership: Proven track record of building or leading a finance function, with the ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in an early-stage or scaling environment.

  • Analytical Rigor: Deep expertise in financial modeling, long-range planning, and capital allocation. You can build from scratch, stress-test assumptions, and translate complex data into clear strategic insight.

  • Business Acumen: A strategic and business-minded perspective, capable of balancing financial rigor with bold, long-term thinking. Familiarity with ARR-based business metrics and subscription economics.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex financial topics into clear, compelling narratives for executives, the Board, and investors.

  • Execution: High ownership mentality. You take initiative, drive projects to completion, and hold yourself to a high bar. You can take ambiguous business needs and turn them into structured, executable plans.

Benefits include
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Daily lunch, snacks, and beverages

  • Flexible time off

  • Competitive salary and equity

  • AI Stipend
