Head of Media Strategy & Business Operations

Description -

About HP

At HP, we are redefining the Future of Work through technology—helping organizations unlock growth while creating more fulfilling work experiences for people everywhere. Delivering on that vision requires more than innovative products. It requires modern operating models, exceptional leadership, and organizations that can adapt, collaborate, and execute at scale.

As part of HP's Global Marketing organization, we're seeking an experienced strategic business operations leader to strengthen how our global media organization operates, collaborates, and delivers measurable business impact.

The Opportunity

The Head of Media Strategy & Business Operations is a key leadership role responsible for driving strategic alignment, business operations, organizational effectiveness, and partnership performance across HP's global media organization.

Reporting into Global Media Operations and working directly with the Vice President of Global Media, this US-based role serves as a strategic business partner to senior leadership, translating executive priorities into coordinated action and measurable outcomes.

The position leads the executive rhythm of business, global agency partnership governance, strategic planning integration, and cross-functional accountability. It plays a central role in maximizing the business value of HP's strategic media partnerships by strengthening governance, commercial transparency, service-level accountability, and adoption of new marketing capabilities.

This is not a campaign execution or traditional project management role. It is a strategic leadership position requiring executive judgment, commercial acumen, organizational leadership, and exceptional operational discipline.

The ideal candidate combines the ability to think strategically with the drive to move complex initiatives forward, resolve issues, and ensure commitments translate into results.

What You'll Do
Strategic Business Operations & Executive Leadership
  • Serve as a strategic business operations partner to the Vice President of Global Media and Global Media Operations leadership, helping translate executive priorities into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
  • Lead the global media leadership team's operating cadence, including executive planning, leadership meetings, quarterly business reviews, strategic planning sessions, and executive communications.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment, prioritization, decision-making, and accountability across global media initiatives.
  • Develop executive-ready business reviews, strategic recommendations, performance narratives, and leadership communications.
  • Anticipate organizational challenges, surface emerging risks, and proactively drive resolution across complex global teams.
  • Lead and develop a small team supporting business operations, program governance, and organizational effectiveness.

Strategic Agency Partnership Governance & Value Realization
  • Lead enterprise-level governance and operational management of HP's strategic media agency partnerships, serving as a central coordination and accountability lead across global and regional stakeholders.
  • Establish and lead agency governance cadences, executive business reviews, performance scorecards, action tracking, and escalation processes.
  • Drive accountability for agency commitments, service-level agreements (SLAs), contractual deliverables, operational performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Finance, Procurement, Legal, and agency leadership to strengthen commercial transparency, billing governance, issue resolution, and adherence to contractual commitments.
  • Proactively identify risks, remove barriers, and drive timely resolution of cross-functional issues through clear ownership, prioritization, and follow-through.
  • Establish frameworks to measure and maximize partnership value, including operational efficiencies, capability adoption, service improvements, and broader business outcomes.
  • Collaborate with regional media leaders and their agency counterparts to ensure consistent governance while preserving regional accountability for market delivery.

Global Business Planning & Strategic Integration
  • Establish and lead strategic planning and engagement frameworks with global business-unit marketing leaders, connecting enterprise business priorities with global and regional media planning.
  • Drive planning discipline, cross-functional alignment, prioritization, and accountability across business-unit initiatives and global media capabilities.
  • Partner with media strategy, regional media leadership, and Global Media Operations to translate business objectives into coordinated planning priorities and actionable initiatives.
  • Facilitate strategic planning discussions, identify dependencies, and resolve organizational barriers to execution.
  • Strengthen the connection between business-unit priorities, audience-led marketing capabilities, agency planning, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Develop executive-level planning narratives and recommendations that support strategic decision-making.

Operating Model, Governance & Organizational Effectiveness
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve operating models, governance frameworks, and business processes that enable effective global media operations.
  • Establish clear roles, decision rights, accountability structures, escalation paths, and operating standards across internal teams and strategic partners.
  • Improve organizational efficiency, collaboration, and decision-making across geographically distributed teams and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce operational friction, and improve speed to execution.
  • Build scalable management systems that strengthen organizational accountability and sustain long-term operational excellence.

Transformation, Change Management & Capability Adoption
  • Lead cross-functional program governance supporting strategic business initiatives and ongoing marketing modernization.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and external partners to enable adoption of new media, audience, data, technology, and measurement capabilities.
  • Establish change management frameworks, stakeholder engagement plans, and adoption measures to support new ways of working.
  • Track strategic milestones, dependencies, organizational readiness, and business outcomes.
  • Ensure new capabilities are operationally integrated into planning, execution, governance, and measurement processes rather than remaining isolated initiatives.

Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders across Global Marketing, Finance, Procurement, Data & Analytics, Technology, Legal, Privacy, Sales, and strategic agency partners.
  • Influence decisions and drive accountability across teams without relying solely on formal reporting authority.
  • Represent Global Media in cross-functional leadership discussions and strategic planning forums.
  • Foster a culture of transparency, ownership, continuous improvement, and results-oriented collaboration.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Management, Organizational Leadership, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Business Operations, Strategy & Operations, Marketing Operations, Media Operations, Enterprise Program Leadership, Management Consulting, Organizational Effectiveness, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience serving as a strategic business operations partner to senior executives in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, establish governance frameworks, and drive complex programs to measurable outcomes.
  • Experience managing strategic external partnerships, enterprise service delivery, operational governance, or commercial accountability.
  • Strong understanding of business planning, operating models, executive governance, performance management, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive accountability, manage escalations, resolve complex issues, and influence stakeholders across organizational boundaries.
  • Exceptional executive communication, presentation development, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience leading teams, managing priorities, and delivering results across geographically distributed organizations.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution and disciplined follow-through.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates with experience supporting global media or enterprise marketing organizations are strongly preferred.

Relevant experience may include:
  • Global media or enterprise marketing strategy and operations.
  • Strategic agency relationship management, agency governance, and commercial oversight.
  • Marketing business operations or Chief of Staff-style roles supporting senior marketing executives.
  • Global advertiser, media agency holding company, advertising technology, or marketing technology environments.
  • Global business-unit marketing planning and cross-functional strategic integration.
  • Media agency operating models, service-level agreements, performance governance, and commercial value realization.
  • Enterprise transformation, organizational design, and change management.
  • Audience-based marketing, marketing technology, data-driven media, and measurement ecosystems.
  • Strategic portfolio management, enterprise PMO leadership, and process optimization.
  • An MBA or other relevant advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience supporting organizations with significant global marketing investments, distributed teams, and complex external partner ecosystems is highly desirable.

Ideal Candidate Profile

You are a strategic operator who thrives at the intersection of executive leadership, business strategy, and operational execution.

You bring structure to complexity, establish clarity where accountability is fragmented, and have the judgment and persistence to drive important initiatives to completion.

You are equally comfortable partnering with senior executives, leading challenging agency governance discussions, aligning global stakeholders, and developing the operating frameworks that help organizations perform at their best.

You understand that effective governance is more than reporting progress. It means establishing ownership, making decisions, removing barriers, and ensuring commitments deliver measurable business value.

You combine strong business and commercial judgment with a collaborative leadership style, the ability to influence without direct authority, and a relentless focus on outcomes.

Why Join HP

This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape how one of the world's largest global technology companies approaches media strategy, business operations, and strategic partnerships.

You'll work closely with senior marketing leadership, influence global business priorities, and play a central role in ensuring HP realizes the full value of its investments in media, data, technology, and strategic partnerships.

If you're passionate about strategic leadership, organizational excellence, and turning complex business priorities into measurable results, we'd love to hear from you.
