About Us

Fieldguide is establishing a new state of trust for global commerce and capital markets through automating and streamlining the work of advisory, audit, and tax practitioners at the world's largest CPA firms. Put simply, we build software for the people who enable trust between businesses.

We’re headquartered in San Francisco, CA and backed by top investors including Growth Equity at Goldman Sachs Alternatives, Bessemer Venture Partners, 8VC, Floodgate, Y Combinator, DNX Ventures, Global Founders Capital, Justin Kan, Elad Gil, and more.

We value diversity — in backgrounds and in experiences. We need people from all backgrounds and walks of life to help build the future of audit and advisory. Fieldguide’s team is inclusive, driven, humble and supportive. We are deliberate and self-reflective about the kind of team and culture that we are building, seeking teammates that are not only strong in their own aptitudes but care deeply about supporting each other's growth.

As a growth stage startup employee, you’ll have the opportunity to build out the future of business trust. We make audit practitioners’ lives easier by eliminating up to 50% of their work and giving them better work-life balance. If you share our values and enthusiasm for building a great culture and product, you will find a home at Fieldguide.

About the Role

Fieldguide is building the AI platform for audit and advisory firms. Our product combines audit workflow, firm methodology, evidence, reviewer judgment, and AI agents in a domain where correctness, traceability, security, and trust affect customer decisions.

As Head of Platform Engineering, you will own the systems that Fieldguide's product, agents, engineers, and enterprise deployments depend on. You will lead the Platform org across App Platform, Agentic Engineering, Infrastructure, and Site Reliability.

This is a hands-on leadership role that combines engineering leadership, platform product thinking, systems judgment, and operational rigor. You will partner directly with the CTO and EPD leadership peers to align platform investments with company strategy, and you will be accountable for the systems our enterprise customers depend on for their most sensitive work.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the Platform org that spans infrastructure, application platform, agentic engineering, and site reliability

  • Own the deployable infrastructure surface, including SaaS regions in multiple geographies, a federal region, private deployments, and future multi-cloud regions

  • Build the operating model for pillar roadmaps, service ownership, production readiness, platform scorecards, and cross-pillar architecture decisions

  • Make API parity part of how Fieldguide ships customer-visible workflows, so Fieldguide can seamlessly integrate into audit firm workflows

  • Establish reliability practice across platform services, including owners, SLOs, dashboards, runbooks, incident review, and on-call health

  • Build Fieldguide's internal agentic engineering platform that powers how the Fieldguide EPD org does work

  • Partner with Product, Security/Compliance, Finance, Sales, and Customer Success on enterprise deployment options, catalog packaging, cost visibility, and customer commitments

  • Hire, coach, and develop TLs and managers who can own platform domains and pillars

Who You Are

  • Experience leading platform, infrastructure, or product-platform teams through a growth stage where multiple product teams depend on shared systems

  • Ability to reason across APIs, authorization, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, reliability, developer experience, and AI runtime

  • Experience building teams with TLs or managers who own domains, roadmaps, and operational quality

  • Judgment on build-versus-buy tradeoffs for shared platforms, vendor dependencies, cloud services, and internal tools

  • Experience turning platform work into user-facing leverage, including API adoption, integration velocity, self-service paths, deployment options, reliability, and cost visibility

  • Comfort partnering with GTM teams on enterprise requirements

  • Familiarity with SRE practices, including SLIs, SLOs, incident review, production readiness, on-call health, and toil reduction

  • Ability to write and communicate in concrete terms: tradeoffs, dependencies, owners, exit criteria, and sequencing

Bonus Points

  • Familiarity with modern AI application infrastructure, including model routing, retrieval, evals, prompt and tool versioning, model cost attribution, and agent runtime behavior

  • Experience with private deployments, multi-region systems, FedRAMP or similar compliance work, or customer-managed environments

  • Experience building internal developer platforms or agentic engineering systems

  • Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, managed Postgres, object storage, secrets management, CI/CD, observability, and cloud cost attribution

  • Prior experience as a founding or early platform leader at a vertical SaaS or enterprise AI company
