The Head of Product will manage the complete product experience for Decile Hub, drive the roadmap, write engineering specs, leverage AI tools, conduct user interviews, and lead cross-functional collaboration while ensuring high design and UX standards.
The summary above was generated by AI

Decile Group is transforming venture capital into a force for good in the world. We are working to launch 1,000 next-generation venture capital firms, changing the face of venture capital. We run VC Lab, the leading venture capital accelerator worldwide, and operate the Decile Hub platform — reducing the barriers of entry for next-generation investors to launch and grow meaningful early-stage investment firms.

We're looking for a Head of Product to own the full product experience of Decile Hub and build it into a world-class tool. Read more about the Decile Group tech team here: https://github.com/VCLab-Inc/Engineering

The ideal candidate is obsessive about user experience — not in a theoretical way, but in the way that makes you fix a broken flow at 11pm because you can't stop thinking about it. You understand how software is actually built. You've worked closely enough with Rails codebases to speak the language of your engineers, and you know how to use AI tools not as a curiosity but as a real lever for speed and quality. You don't need a prestigious resume — but you do need to be a sharp thinker, a clear communicator, and someone who holds the bar high.

Basic requirements:

  • You must live and work within a few time zones of Pacific (California) time. We are on Zoom and Slack a lot.
  • You must be comfortable getting into a Rails app, reading the code, and understanding what's hard and what isn't.
  • You are already using AI tools daily — in your writing, your research, your specs, your thinking. This isn't aspirational for you; it's how you work.
  • You must be able to own a product surface end-to-end and work directly with the people who use it.

If you're the kind of person who gets genuinely bothered by a clunky UX, who has strong opinions about what "good" looks like, and who wants to build something that tens of thousands of venture capitalists will rely on to run their firms — then you're who we're looking for.

And we want to work with you too.

What You'll Do

  • Own the product experience, end to end. You are accountable for how Decile Hub looks, feels, and works — from the first login of a new fund manager to the most complex fund administration workflow. Every interaction is your responsibility.
  • Set and drive the roadmap. Translate user needs, operational realities, and Decile Group's business priorities into a clear, sequenced roadmap. Make the hard calls on what gets built and what doesn't. Maintain alignment across Decile Group's engineering, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Write specs that engineers love. Crisp, specific, with edge cases handled and acceptance criteria defined. You remove ambiguity before it becomes a bug. You respect engineering time.
  • Use AI to move faster and think sharper. Leverage AI in discovery, synthesis, spec writing, competitive research, and anywhere else it makes you better. Be a model for AI-first product thinking across Decile Group.
  • Stay close to customers. Run user interviews. Shadow onboarding calls. Read every support ticket. Synthesize what you learn into clear problem definitions and close the loop after features ship to make sure they actually worked.
  • Raise the bar on design and UX. Be the person at Decile Group who is never satisfied with "good enough." Push for clarity, simplicity, and delight in every flow — especially in the dense, complex workflows that define fund administration.
  • Lead cross-functional execution. Bring structure to product workflows across Decile Group. Rally engineering, ops, legal ops, and customer success around shared priorities. Keep launches on track and documentation tight.

What You Bring

  • 6–10+ years in product management, with a track record of shipping high-quality, complex SaaS products
  • Genuine technical fluency — you've worked closely with Rails or comparable web frameworks and can hold your own in an engineering conversation
  • An active, sophisticated AI workflow — you use AI tools to do your job better, every day
  • Exceptional written clarity — your specs, emails, and Slack messages are models of structured thinking
  • Deep UX sensibility — you've built beautiful, functional tools for operational, financial, or workflow-heavy domains and you know the difference between a flow that works and one that sings
  • Strong prioritization instincts and the discipline to say no to good ideas in service of great ones
  • Comfort in fast-moving, high-ambiguity environments — and the ability to create structure where there isn't any

Nice to Have

  • Experience with fund administration, venture capital tooling, or compliance workflows
  • Background in operations, legal ops, or workflow automation
  • Experience analyzing user behavior and creating practical user segments (e.g., new users, advanced users, high-touch accounts) to inform onboarding, feature design, or support processes

How to Apply:
If you don't tick every box above, we'd still encourage you to apply. We're building a diverse team whose skills balance and complement one another.

Please describe why you are uniquely qualified for this position in the competitive field of Venture Capital to apply, as well as submitting your resume.

Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience.

San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area attracts more startup funding than any other region in the world. Home to Stanford University and UC Berkeley, leading VC firms and several of the world’s most valuable companies, the Bay Area is the place to go for anyone looking to make it big in the tech industry. That said, San Francisco has a lot to offer beyond technology thanks to a thriving art and music scene, excellent food and a short drive to several of the country’s most beautiful recreational areas.

Key Facts About San Francisco Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 365,500; 13.9% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Sequoia Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Greylock Partners, Khosla Ventures, Kleiner Perkins
  • Research Centers and Universities: Stanford University; University of California, Berkeley; University of San Francisco; Santa Clara University; Ames Research Center; Center for AI Safety; California Institute for Regenerative Medicine
