Role Overview & Impact

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for administering and supporting a broad range of Human Resources functions throughout the employee lifecycle. This role serves as the primary resources for employees regarding HR policies, benefits, onboarding, employee records, compliance and day-to-day HR operations.

The Human Resources Generalist partners closely with the Human Resources team to ensure a seamless employee experience while maintaining compliance.

Key ResponsibilitiesCore ResponsibilitiesEmployee Lifecycle Administration
  • Facilitate new hire orientation in partnership with the Learning & Development Specialist
  • Support onboarding processes to ensure a smooth, compliant, and engaging new hire experience.
  • Coordinate offboarding processes, including exit interviews, documentation, and final compliance requirements.
Benefit Administration
  • Administer employee benefit enrollment and qualifying life event changes
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment activities
  • Partner with benefit vendors to resolve employee issues.
  • Support benefit audits and reporting
HR Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, with strong emphasis on California labor laws.
  • Coordinate I-9 compliance and employment verification requirements.
  • Maintain accurate personnel files, records, and HR documentation in accordance with legal and company standards.
  • Assist with policy updates and handbook revisions
  • Support compliance related to healthcare regulations, HIPAA, ADA, and internal audits.
  • Support internal and external HR audits
Employee Support
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and employment processes.
  • Provide excellent customer service while maintaining confidentiality
  • Assist with employee engagement and recognition activities
HR Systems, Reporting & Projects
  • Utilize HRIS and ATS platforms (e.g., Paycom, Workable) to support HR operations and reporting.
  • Track HR metrics and trends, providing insights to leadership as needed.
  • Participate in HR projects, including policy development, DEI initiatives, and process improvements.
Success Measures
  • Accurate and compliant HR documentation and personnel file management.
  • Successful onboarding and offboarding experiences.
  • High employee satisfaction with HR service and responsiveness.
  • Timely administration of benefits
  • Full compliance with California labor laws and healthcare regulations.
Skills That Set You ApartRequired Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2+ years of progressive HR experience in a generalist capacity.
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms (Paycom preferred) and ATS systems (Workable or similar).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment.
  • Healthcare industry experience.
  • Professional HR certification (SHRM, HRCI, or equivalent).
