Position Overview

The Impact Analytics Manager is responsible for supporting data management, progress monitoring, and reporting activities that enable City Year AmeriCorps Members and staff to deliver data-informed service and support to students and partner schools. The Impact Analytics Manager (IA Manager) will be part of the Program and Service team, a group of dedicated and passionate professionals who believe that talented and diverse AmeriCorps members can have a dramatic impact on student success.
The IA Manager will report to the Impact Analytics Director. In addition to supporting ongoing data collection, management and presentation, the Impact Analytics Manager will support the Impact Analytics team in building a culture of evaluation among staff and corps to maximize outcomes for students with higher needs.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Data Collection & Management

  • Support the collection and transformation of student-level data (attendance, behavior, and course performance) across multiple platforms to ensure accurate progress monitoring and reporting.
  • Support the collection and transformation of AmeriCorps member and partner data to ensure accurate progress monitoring of Corps and Partner experience.
  • Execute the set-up and administration of multiple enterprise assessment (DESSA) platforms.
  • Support the set-up and maintenance of enterprise salesforce platform for progress monitoring.
  • Design, create, and maintain tools that support site data collection using Excel, Power Apps, and Forms.

Data Visualization & Reporting

  • Create and maintain relevant data visualizations that support with monitoring student progress and analyzing program delivery and impact.
  • Supporting with the design and maintenance of our data model using Power Query and Power BI (DAX) to support with reporting service delivery and student impact to stakeholders.

Support Learning on Data Systems for Corps & Staff

  • Design and deliver trainings for staff and AmeriCorps members on how to use City Year’s data systems and tools including how to interpret program data to improve student outcomes.
  • Lead on the design and execution of a curriculum for a subset of AmeriCorps members to support ACM’s professional development in data and analytics.
  • Lead on designing training resources for Impact Analytics tools and systems to support our users.

Team Collaboration & Support

  • Respond to data requests and questions by using the common data model and compiling in excel.
  • Support the service team in accessing and interpreting student level data including leading data reviews and answering questions.
  • Support the service team in creating and delivering synchronous and asynchronous learning and development content to AmeriCorps Members and staff during summits, learning & development days, or program training days
  • Support AmeriCorps members and staff with understanding, implementing, and troubleshooting City Year LA’s tools.
  • Partner with CYLA departments and staff through stakeholder engagement, event, and service day participation, and cross-departmental committees as needed to ensure site-wide goals are met.
  • Support other department functions as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint)
  • One year of data analysis experience (academic or professional preferred).
  • Ability to interpret and display data to engage audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to translate project goals into an action plan and to organize resources to meet timelines/deadlines.
  • Authorized documentation to work in the United States of America
  • Criminal background history clearance to work with school-age children, depending on the position

Preferred but not required

  • Exceptional critical thinking skills and experience supporting multi-faceted projects
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel: Power Query & VBA
  • Proficiency using Access
  • Proficiency with data visualization software (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • City Year and AmeriCorps alumni are encouraged to apply.
     

Physical Requirements:

  • Based in LA with an average 1-2 in-person days per week.
    • Typically, physically present during all week learning summits and other staff, corps, and external events.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally stand or walk
  • Manual dexterity for typing, writing, and handling office equipment
  • Visual acuity to read screens and printed materials
  • Hearing ability to participate in conversations and respond to phone calls
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and in writing

Working Conditions:

  • Periodic travel required to downtown City Year office and other locations across LA.
  • Typical schedule: 40 hours per week with occasional extended hours as needed.
  • Noise levels are generally moderate.
  • Must have reliable internet access for remote or flexible work arrangements.
