Job Description

Agilent Technologies is seeking a hands-on, technically skilled builder and analyst to strengthen enterprise R&D portfolio management through high-quality data, scalable digital capabilities, and actionable analytics. The role will help leaders make better-informed decisions about project priorities, investment, performance, and risk across business-unit portfolio reviews and enterprise governance forums.

Reporting into the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Innovation Portfolio & Analytics Manager will partner with R&D, PMO, Finance, and IT stakeholders to translate portfolio management needs into effective data, analytics, and digital capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to shape both the digital foundation and the analytical methods used to guide R&D portfolio decisions across Agilent. The successful candidate will combine data and analytics expertise, solution design and implementation leadership, process-improvement capability, and strong stakeholder engagement, while using AI-assisted development to accelerate delivery and improve how portfolio insights are generated and applied.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the enterprise R&D portfolio data and analytics capability, guiding requirements, solution design, implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement across internal platforms, commercial portfolio management solutions, or a combination.

  • Partner with divisions to understand portfolio decisions and stakeholder needs, translate them into analytical and reporting requirements, define implementation plans, and support adoption of common enterprise capabilities.

  • Assess portfolio data, reporting, and workflow processes to identify improvement opportunities and implement scalable digital workflows that improve efficiency, transparency, consistency, and decision support.

  • Design, develop, and continuously enhance scalable data models, integrations, pipelines, applications, and dashboards using Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Power Apps, and Power Automate, in partnership with IT architecture and platform teams.

  • Develop portfolio analytics and reporting that assess strategic alignment; reveal trends and variances; evaluate portfolio composition and balance, resource capacity, investment and value; measure project cycle times and milestone adherence; and support proactive risk flagging and mitigation.

  • Coordinate data readiness and prepare analytical content for enterprise portfolio reviews, ensuring accurate, timely information and translating results into clear performance insights, implications, options, and recommendations.

  • Define and continuously improve enterprise standards for portfolio data, metrics, reporting, and supporting digital workflows; coordinate validation, issue resolution, and data-quality improvement with divisional PMOs and other data contributors.

  • Establish sustainable operating and adoption practices including testing, releases, documentation, access management, platform performance, training, communication, user support, and ongoing enhancement.

  • Apply AI-assisted development and automation to accelerate data modeling, application development, testing, documentation, analytics, and workflow execution.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, information systems, data/analytics, computer science, or a related field required.

  • Typically 8+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, in business intelligence, analytics development, data solutions, portfolio systems, or related roles.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of project portfolio management principles and practices, including how project priorities, strategic alignment, schedules, resources, financials, risks, and performance measures inform portfolio decisions.

  • Demonstrated experience designing, building, deploying, and supporting analytics solutions, including data models, pipelines, integrations, applications, dashboards, and production support practices.

  • Hands-on proficiency in Power BI, including data schemas, semantic modeling, and DAX; Microsoft Fabric; Power Apps; Power Automate; and advanced Excel modeling.

  • Working proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, validation, and troubleshooting required; experience with Python or another scripting language and ERP-sourced data, such as SAP, preferred.

  • Experience developing solutions within enterprise IT architecture, security, governance, and compliance frameworks.

  • Experience analyzing, documenting, and improving data, reporting, or portfolio-related business processes, including workflow automation and continuous improvement.

  • Experience driving adoption of new data processes, digital tools, and reporting capabilities through stakeholder engagement, training, communication, and user support.

  • Experience implementing, administering, configuring, or serving as a business product owner for a commercial project portfolio management platform, such as Planisware, Planview, Clarity, or a comparable enterprise PPM solution, preferred.

  • Working knowledge of industrial R&D environments required; experience in life sciences, analytical instrumentation, chemicals, medical technology, or related industries preferred.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Technical problem solving: ability to diagnose complex data and platform issues and develop scalable, maintainable solutions.

  • Portfolio analytics and constructive challenge: ability to frame important portfolio questions, test assumptions, identify meaningful patterns and trade-offs, and translate complex data into intuitive visualizations, clear implications, and actionable recommendations.

  • Capability and process leadership: ability to translate stakeholder needs into practical requirements, implementation plans, improved workflows, and sustainable operating practices.

  • AI-enabled development: demonstrated use of AI-assisted development tools to improve speed, quality, and scalability; experience implementing automated or agent-enabled workflows in an enterprise environment preferred.

  • Influence and collaboration: ability to build alignment and drive adoption across a global, matrixed organization without direct authority.
