Job Scope:

Get exposure to both business and nonprofit networks through RCause, RingCentral’s signature Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. At RingCentral, we recognize that our biggest strength is that we’re not all the same. We’re looking for someone who wants to take part in a rapidly growing effort to increase social impact and diversity at RingCentral, both internally and externally. The ideal candidate would have an appetite to learn about how companies can deliver on the biggest challenge facing our world today--a triple bottom line: business, environmental, and social.

The person in this role will serve as a liaison on behalf of the Social Impact and Diversity team to other departments and employee groups within the company. The ideal candidate loves communicating with employee leaders and stakeholders as well as collaborating with diverse business units to deliver relevant, engaging programs and employee experiences. This position will work on projects including but not limited to:

  • Planning and executing employee events that celebrate diversity and build a more inclusive culture

  • Planning and executing volunteer opportunities and nonprofit events to involve employees in social impact

  • Crafting corporate wide communications

  • Launching a mobile program for nonprofit organizations and disaster relief

  • Other corporate social responsibility responsibilities as needed

  • Other human resources and marketing responsibilities as needed

  • Working cross-functionally with Employee Resource Groups (ERG’s), Employee Programs and Wellness on events

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate junior or above 

  • Experience in event planning and/or university access and retention programs 

  • Experience or interest in Corporate Social Responsibility programs, Diversity programs, or nonprofit partnerships

  • Outgoing; ability to communicate cross functionally across numerous platforms and organizational levels

  • Excellent interpersonal skills which are essential in one-on-one and group settings

  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, creative and enthusiastic with a growth mindset

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 

 

Learning Skills/Outcomes:

  • Event planning and design with success metrics in mind (Employee Engagement metrics)

  • Exposure to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) & Diversity (DEI) Industries

  • Knowledge of Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) as they relate to business goals and investor relations

  • Exposure to employee volunteerism and philanthropy programs

  • Better understanding of nonprofit partnerships and relations from a corporate standpoint

  • Cross functional communication and marketing skills

Availability:

  • Full-time [10-week internship]

  • Must be available to start either June 8th, 2021 or June 15th, 2021

What are some social events your company does?

Outside of holiday festivities, the biggest program is RingCentral Spirit Week in October. Events are planned for everyday of the week and include interactive webinars, global relay runs, philanthropic giving as well as plain ol' fashion fun. We always has a lot of pride, but this week in particular the orange and blue really shine through!

The diversity initiatives I'm most excited about is a values-based interview for prospective folks. Enabling diverse candidates means having diverse interview panels that reflect the company. These will help candidates and hiring managers ensure that there's a values alignment, which is much more prudent than a "culture fit."
