IT Resilience & Disaster Recovery Lead – Technical Recovery

Ferguson is seeking a Disaster Recovery & Resilience professional to support enterprise IT continuity and technical recovery capabilities. This role is responsible for developing and advancing recovery strategies, leading resilience testing, and ensuring critical systems can be effectively restored during disruptive events. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership and governance experience, with a proven track record to drive execution across sophisticated environments and a deep understanding of enterprise recovery frameworks, risk management, and operational resilience.

Location: This role is approved to be either Remote within the United States or Hybrid for associates in Hampton Roads, VA, in accordance with company policy.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead disaster recovery risk assessments, exercises, and resilience testing activities
  • Plan, coordinate, and orchestrate technical recovery exercises, track and report activities to business customers
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance recovery strategies, including Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and Technical Recovery Plans (TRP)
  • Partner with business and technology teams to identify critical systems, dependencies, and potential vulnerabilities
  • Facilitate the integration of new systems and applications into the technical recovery program
  • Success in using both traditional standards, such as IT service management practices based on ITIL, as well as emerging methods like DevOps that are optimized for agility.
  • Standardize and recovery processes and procedures across the enterprise environment
  • Stay ahead on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve recovery strategies.
  • Ensure disaster recovery solutions are implemented, maintained, and tested as part of the operational lifecycle
  • Oversee technical recovery plans, track preparedness status, and manage remediation efforts to closure
  • Provide expert guidance to cross-functional teams in developing, validating, and delivering recovery procedures
  • Support preparedness efforts to mitigate, respond to, and recover from significant incidents and disruptions
  • Promote resilience strategies, governance, and best practices across the organization
  • Support audit and compliance requirements related to disaster recovery and business continuity
Requirements & Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in disaster recovery, business continuity, or Technology & Cyber resilience within a large, complex enterprise environment
  • Proven experience developing Business Impact Analyses (BIA) and Technical Recovery Plans (TRPs)
  • Strong understanding of frameworks, methodologies, and regulatory standards (e.g., NIST, ISO, COBIT, ITIL, CISA, etc.)
  • Experience in using both traditional standards, such as IT service management practices based on ITIL, as well as emerging methods like DevOps that are optimized for agility.
  • Experience leading resilience exercises, including tabletop and scenario-based, and live-environment testing
  • Ability to assess and document system dependencies, recovery strategies, and architectural designs
  • Strong program and project management skills with the ability to coordinate across technical and business teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage a broad range of interested parties
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with Resilience Engineering, Google DiRT, Chaos Engineering, SRE, or similar practices is preferred
  • Experience working with Disaster Recovery Planning, IT Service Management, or GRC platforms
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., BCDR, ITIL, CISA)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience

Actual pay rate may vary depending upon location. The estimated pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on a candidate’s qualifications and prior experience.

$6,805.95 - $11,921.25

Estimated Ranges displayed are Monthly for Salaried roles OR Hourly for all other roles.

This role is Bonus or Incentive Plan eligible.
