About Onos Health

Onos Health’s mission is simple but ambitious: ensure every healthcare dollar goes toward delivering the highest quality care. Today, 30% of total U.S. healthcare spending is wasted due to ineffective care and administrative burden caused by misalignment between providers and payers.

Onos is addressing this by building the largest AI-driven healthcare data platform. Our model enables payers to make faster, more accurate decisions across their populations. By guiding members to the right care, Onos is channeling more dollars to high-quality care that drives outcomes while making healthcare more affordable.

Come join a category-defining company and transform how healthcare is managed in the U.S.

Why Onos?
  • Meaningful impact: Help solve one of healthcare’s biggest challenges by improving quality while reducing waste.

  • Ownership: Take on significant responsibility from day one and shape a rapidly growing company.

  • Direct collaboration: Work alongside experienced founders with deep expertise in healthcare, AI, and product development.

  • High-performing team: Join a transparent, collaborative, and execution-focused culture.

  • Build something new: Help define the next generation of AI-powered healthcare analytics.

The Role

We’re looking for a Lead Data Scientist to own the analytical strategy behind the Onos platform and help our customers unlock the full value of their data.

This role sits at the intersection of data science, product, and customer success. You’ll partner directly with health plans to understand their data, systems, workflows, and business challenges while working internally with Product, Engineering, and Clinical teams to shape the analytics, dashboards, and product capabilities that power the Onos platform.

Success in this role isn’t measured by how many machine learning models you build—it’s measured by your ability to turn complex healthcare data into products, insights, and measurable outcomes that customers trust.

You’ll serve as one of Onos’ analytical leaders, helping customers answer difficult questions, developing rigorous methodologies to measure ROI and clinical impact, identifying new product opportunities, and ensuring our platform continues to evolve around real customer needs.

What You’ll Be Doing

Partner with Customers

  • Work directly with payer analytics, clinical, operational, and executive teams to understand their data, systems, and business objectives.

  • Help customers understand and validate the insights generated by the Onos platform.

  • Design and execute analyses that quantify ROI, clinical outcomes, operational improvements, and program impact.

  • Present methodologies, findings, and recommendations to both technical and executive audiences.

  • Serve as a trusted analytical partner during implementations, pilots, and ongoing customer engagements.

Shape Product & Data Strategy

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to determine how new data sources—including claims, clinical documentation, authorizations, and operational data—should be integrated into the platform.

  • Help define the dashboards, reporting, metrics, and analytics that customers use every day.

  • Translate customer questions and analytical needs into scalable product capabilities.

  • Identify opportunities to leverage customer data to create new products, insights, and decision-support tools.

Drive Analytics & Insight Generation

  • Explore complex healthcare datasets to identify utilization patterns, quality opportunities, provider variation, and operational inefficiencies.

  • Design rigorous analytical methodologies for measuring clinical appropriateness, quality, program integrity, and financial impact.

  • Build statistical models and analytical frameworks that support product development and customer decision-making.

  • Apply machine learning where it meaningfully improves customer outcomes and platform capabilities.

Collaborate Across the Company

  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Clinical Operations, and Customer Success to solve complex customer problems.

  • Help prioritize analytical initiatives and influence product direction.

  • Serve as the company’s subject matter expert on healthcare data, analytics, and measurement.

What We’re Looking For
  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare analytics, data science, biostatistics, or a related quantitative field.

  • Deep experience working with healthcare claims, clinical, authorization, eligibility, or operational healthcare data.

  • Strong SQL and Python skills for exploratory analysis, statistical modeling, and data validation.

  • Strong foundation in statistics, experimental design, causal inference, predictive modeling, and analytical methodology.

  • Experience designing analyses that measure clinical, operational, or financial outcomes.

  • Ability to translate complex analytical concepts into clear, actionable business insights.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical teams and executive stakeholders.

  • Experience working directly with customers or external stakeholders is strongly preferred.

  • Product-minded, with an interest in turning analytical insights into scalable software capabilities.

  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and excited to help build processes, products, and best practices from the ground up.

  • Healthcare payer, provider, or health technology experience strongly preferred.

  • Exceptional references from colleagues and former managers.

Why This Role Is Unique

At Onos, data science isn’t an isolated research function. You’ll help customers answer their hardest analytical questions, influence the direction of our product, define how healthcare data is transformed into actionable intelligence, and play a central role in building one of the most ambitious AI platforms in healthcare.

If you enjoy solving messy problems, working directly with customers, and seeing your work shape both products and real-world healthcare decisions, we’d love to talk.

Benefits & Perks
  • Flexible hybrid arrangement (~3 days/week in our San Francisco office)

  • Unlimited vacation policy

  • Paid parental leave

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • Pre-tax commuter benefits

  • 401(k)

  • Significant equity as an early employee

  • Direct mentorship from experienced founders

  • Ground-floor opportunity to help build both the product and company

  • Regular team events and off-sites

  • Company-provided equipment and home office setup
