The Role

As a Senior Implementation Specialist on the Animal Nutrition team, you will lead customers through the configuration, validation, and go-live of our feed mill and formulation software with a particular focus on getting the accounting side right.

Feed mill ERP lives or dies on the accounting foundation beneath it: inventory valuation, cost roll-ups, batch costing, general ledger mapping, and clean posting into Dynamics GP,Cloud Accounting or other agnostic accounting packages. This role is for someone who has actually closed a month, reconciled an inventory sub-ledger to the GL, and can sit across the table from a controller and speak their language. This is a remote position that requires periodic travel to customer sites.

Key Responsibilities

Implementation Delivery

  • Lead installation, configuration, testing, training, and go-live support for Datacor Animal Nutrition products at customer sites and remotely.
  • Partner with Delivery Managers to execute project plans, hit milestones, and manage scope across concurrent implementations.
  • Analyze customer business processes and consult on best practices for system configuration, workflow design, and process optimization.
  • Support cutover, go-live, and hypercare, including opening-balance loads, cutover inventory counts, and first-close support.

Accounting Configuration & Financial Integrity

  • Design and configure the accounting foundation of each implementation: chart of accounts mapping, GL posting accounts, account segmentation, and integration setup between mill operations and the financial system.
  • Configure and validate inventory costing methodology (standard, average, FIFO/LIFO as applicable), cost roll-ups, variance accounts, and work-in-process treatment for batch manufacturing.
  • Set up and test AR, AP, and GL integration points between Feed Mill Manager / Pennent Mill Manager and accounting systems, including batch posting, distribution accuracy, and error handling.
  • Validate that manufacturing, shipping, receiving, and billing transactions produce correct financial results, and lead reconciliation of sub-ledgers to the general ledger during parallel testing.
  • Advise on pricing, contract, freight, discount, and tax configuration and their downstream accounting impact.

Training, Documentation & Team Contribution

  • Deliver end-user and administrator training across operational and financial workflows, tailored to mill operators, office staff, controllers, and executives.
  • Develop and maintain training documentation, user guides, configuration workbooks, and internal knowledge base materials.
  • Troubleshoot configuration, process, and data-related issues with clear, timely customer communication.
  • Contribute implementation insights and lessons learned back to the delivery and support teams to improve methodology.
  • Manage multiple engagements simultaneously while completing administrative responsibilities time entry, status updates, taskray and recap documentation accurately and on time.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience such as staff/senior accountant, cost accountant, assistant controller, or controller.
  • Demonstrated depth in one or more of: inventory accounting and valuation, cost accounting in a manufacturing environment, general ledger management, or AR/AP operations.
  • 3+ years of ERP experience as an end user, implementation consultant, or both, including at least one full-cycle implementation or major system conversion.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Strong understanding of how operational transactions, production, inventory movement, shipping, receiving, billing - translate into financial entries.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain financial and technical concepts clearly to both plant-floor and executive audiences.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively and work independently in a remote environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites as required.

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP, particularly the Financials, Inventory, Purchasing, and Sales Order Processing modules.
  • Background in agriculture, feed milling, food manufacturing, or another process/batch manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Datacor Animal Nutrition products (Feed Mill Manager, Pennent Mill Manager, Brill, ARA, Feed Tags).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and the ability to write or read basic SQL for data validation and reconciliation.
  • Experience with data migration, opening balance conversion, or parallel testing during a system cutover.
  • CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially advanced Excel.
  • Proficiency with AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT
