Provides research into specific applications such as improved quality of existing products, more cost-effective manufacturing processes, a new product line or new area of business. Delivers the technology and process capability needed to operate, maintain and improve manufacturing operations. Collaborates with the business and manufacturing teams to define process technology direction and programs to the business.
Performs theoretical and experimental scientific and technological investigation directed toward the acquisition of new knowledge. May conduct analytical, experimental, investigative and other fact-finding work to support principal scientific research. Prepares comprehensive documented observations, analyses and interpretations of results, including technical reports, summaries, protocols and quantitative analyses. Identifies, assesses and develops new scientific concepts/technologies in basic or applied research with significant business impact. Documents research leading to patent disclosure or technical and/or scientific advancement.
Requirements:
- Must Have PhD Degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related disciplines
- Must have at least 5 years of industrial experience in Product Development formulating and testing functional adhesives for electrical conductivity and/or thermal management applications
- Extensive hands-on experience working with nanomaterial dispersions and related systems including process development, characterization, testing and evaluation
- Practical experience in formulating thermal or UV curable composite functional coatings
- Solid background in polymer structure-property relationships and in polymer/electrical characterization, testing, and evaluation techniques
- Highly motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary global team
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Commitment to safety
In Short: The right candidate will have hands-on experience in the formulation and development of nanomaterials, along with expertise in polymer systems, thermal and electrical materials, and adhesive technologies.
Related Duties:
- Design, plan, and carry out experiments to develop formulations, processes, and manufacturing methodologies to improve product performance
- Prepare samples of optimized formulations for customer testing. Support customers by building necessary database for candidate samples
- Perform reliability testing, failure and root cause analysis on developmental products and products in the field
- Effectively work and coordinate across different functions to solve customer problems
- Collaborate closely with supervisors, partners, customers, and vendors to improve product performance
- Provide high quality technical documentation as well as training and mentorship to junior scientists
- Travel to support partners, customers, and suppliers as necessary
