Our mission at Atomic Machines is to bring autonomous bits-to-atoms manufacturing of anything at any scale to the world, and we are well on our way.  We are developing an entirely new class of manufacturing foundry for micro- and nano-scale machines, and we are using that foundry to create products the world has heretofore been unable to build.  Our first device has exceptionally strong and large-scale product-market fit:  it is both iconic of what our platform can do and a driver of very significant enterprise scale.

Joining forces with us means becoming part of an incredibly talented, inventive and passionate multi-disciplinary team running hard to make our platform, devices and vision a reality.  You will have the opportunity to help define the company from its earliest days. You’ll be challenged to learn and grow as a builder and a leader as the company itself grows rapidly. And you will receive significant equity compensation - you’ll truly be a company owner and benefit financially from our overall success.

Our offices are located in Emeryville and Santa Clara, California.

About The Role:

Our goal is to build one of the earliest AI-native People Operations systems inside a scaling technology company. Instead of a large administrative HR organization, we are building a highly leveraged People team powered by innovative solutions, operational excellence and emergent AI-enabled processes.

We call this model the TAO of People: Tech, Agents, and Operations.

The TAO of People is the operating system behind how a company hires, supports, and grows its workforce—where a small team designs systems, workflows, and agents that run much of the operational work.

We are looking for a builder to help design and implement this model at Atomic Machines.

This role partners directly with the VP, People to architect the systems, workflows, and internal tools that power the People Team as the company scales. Over time, this role has the opportunity to grow into Head of People Operations, responsible for the systems and infrastructure that support the organization.
What You’ll Do:
  • Build the TAO of People
    • Design and deploy internal agents and automated workflows across the employee lifecycle, including benefits administration, immigration processes, onboarding, internal support, and knowledge management.
  • Design the People systems architecture
    • Help define and implement the People technology stack and data infrastructure, including HRIS selection and implementation, systems integrations, and analytics capabilities.
  • Create impactful operational workflows
    • Identify manual administrative processes and redesign them using automation, internal tools, and agent-driven workflows to dramatically improve efficiency, reliability, and employee experience.
  • Develop people analytics and operational dashboards
    • Build reporting and analytics capabilities that help leaders understand workforce trends, hiring progress, engagement signals, and organizational health.
  • Enable technology-driven operations across the company
    • Partner with teams beyond the People function to identify opportunities where automation, tooling, and agent-based workflows can improve internal operations.
  • Partner closely with the VP, People
    • Help design the long-term architecture of a modern People function and the systems required to support a scaling organization.
What You’ll Need:

You are a builder and systems thinker who enjoys designing new operating models rather than maintaining legacy ones.

You'll likely:

  • Think in systems, workflows, and infrastructure.
  • Enjoy simplifying and solving complex operational problems.
  • Have embraced automation, internal tooling, and emerging agent-based systems.
  • Have experience creating reporting and analytics in complex organizations.
  • Are comfortable experimenting with new, unproven technologies.
  • Are energized by building something from scratch inside a growing company.

Experience in operations, consulting, product, analytics, or People operations can all be relevant backgrounds. Recent experience designing and implementing agentic workflows or other AI-first programs are ideal.

When referencing the compensation band below, please note that it may vary based on a candidate’s experience and level. This role is not tied to a single level and may span earlier-in-career through senior-level candidates (L5-L6). Final leveling will be determined during the interview process. We are open to strong earlier-career candidates who are excited to grow into broader technical leadership or architectural responsibility over time.

The compensation for this position also includes equity and benefits.
