Greenlight is seeking a motivated Legal & Compliance Intern for the 2026–2027 school year to support our Legal and Compliance team. This role offers hands-on exposure to the regulatory and operational side of fintech, working closely with attorneys and compliance professionals to help ensure Greenlight operates in line with applicable laws and internal standards. This is a great opportunity for an undergraduate or current law school student interested in fintech law, regulatory compliance, or corporate legal operations.

This role reports to a Manager, Associate Counsel.

Your day-to-day:

  • Monitor and research emerging legal and regulatory developments in the fintech space, including consumer protection, payments, and financial services regulations; summarize findings for the legal/compliance team
  • Organize, maintain, and archive company policies and procedures, ensuring documents are current, accessible, and properly version-controlled
  • Compile and analyze data to create reports identifying trends across departments (e.g., customer complaints, operational risk, product changes) that may carry legal or compliance implications
  • Test internal systems and workflows to verify compliance controls are functioning as intended, and document/report any issues or gaps
  • Review marketing and advertising materials for legal and regulatory compliance prior to publication or distribution
  • Partner with teams across the company (Product, Marketing, Customer Support, etc.) on compliance-related questions and initiatives
  • Assist with additional legal and compliance tasks and special projects as needed

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Legal Studies, Political Science, Business, Finance, or a related field (J.D. candidates welcome)
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently
  • Interest in fintech, financial regulation, or consumer protection law is a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace; familiarity with document management systems a plus
  • Prior internship or coursework in compliance, legal research, or a related area is a plus but not required

Learning opportunities:

  • Direct exposure to how legal and compliance functions operate within a fast-growing fintech company
  • Mentorship from experienced legal and compliance professionals
  • Practical experience in regulatory research, policy development, and compliance testing
  • Insight into the intersection of law, technology, and financial services
  • Not sure this one’s for you? Don’t count yourself out. Show us what you’ve got and we’ll reach out if there’s a great fit.

Who we are:
It takes a talented team to aim for a mission like ours. We're looking for people who ask "is it bold enough?" People who bring their real selves to the table and push the people around them to do the same. We win by never hesitating to jump in, offer a hand, or share the credit, because we know we're stronger together than apart. And through all of it, the mission stays the thing we measure ourselves against: are we doing right by the families counting on us? If that sounds like your kind of team, we'd love for you to apply.
