As Legal Counsel, you will draft and negotiate contracts, provide legal guidance on compliance, and build legal processes for Reducto's operations.
The summary above was generated by AI

Reducto is the agentic document platform for leading AI teams who demand enterprise performance at scale. We provide a comprehensive toolkit for working with documents the way a human would, combining custom in-house and leading frontier models to power efficient and accurate document workflows.

We’ve grown rapidly, increasing revenue 8x year over year and partnering with hundreds of companies, from leading AI teams like Harvey, Vanta, and Scale, to enterprise customers across FAANG and top trading firms.

Reducto has raised over $100M from world-class investors including a16z, Benchmark, and First Round Capital.

The Opportunity

As our first in-house Legal Counsel, you'll play a key role in building the commercial and legal infrastructure that lets Reducto move fast and grow without unnecessary friction. You'll collaborate closely with the founders and go-to-market team to own contracting end-to-end, serve as a trusted advisor across the business, and build the processes and templates that scale with us. This is a high-impact role where you'll shape how legal operates at Reducto from day one.

What You'll Do:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts across the business, including enterprise customer agreements, MSAs, SaaS subscriptions, DPAs, SOWs, NDAs, and vendor contracts, and create new form agreements where none exist

  • Run high-value, complex negotiations with large enterprise and strategic customers, including FAANG-scale procurement and security and legal review, to accelerate deal velocity without adding friction

  • Partner closely with the sales team as a responsive, solution-oriented advisor who helps close deals, not slow them down

  • Own data protection and privacy in our customer contracts: DPAs, data processing and and data subject requirements

  • Support the company’s security and compliance posture as it shows up in customer contracts and data protection commitments

  • Serve as product counsel, advising product and engineering on the legal implications of new AI/ML features as they come up

  • Build and maintain scalable legal infrastructure: standard templates, a negotiation playbook, approval workflows, and a contract management system

  • Provide pragmatic legal and regulatory guidance to teams across the company, from early-stage project development through launch

  • Coordinate IP (trademarks, copyrights) in partnership with outside counsel where needed

  • Stay current on laws and regulations relevant to AI products, including data privacy, IP, and consumer protection

  • Manage outside counsel relationships and keep legal spend focused and efficient

You'll Thrive Here If You:

  • Are an active member of the California Bar, or able to waive in

  • Have 7+ years of legal experience, combining law firm and in-house experience

  • Have hands-on enterprise commercial contracting experience, and can run a complex enterprise deal end-to-end without supervision, including against sophisticated counterparties and their procurement and security teams

  • Hold yourself to a high bar for quality and precision

  • Are comfortable being the only lawyer in the room and making pragmatic calls independently

  • Bring a generalist mindset and are willing to tackle problems outside your core expertise

  • Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical teams and build trust quickly across functions

  • Operate well in fast-moving, high-growth environments and can balance attention to detail with the pace of the business

  • Use AI tools fluently and have a track record of using them to improve efficiency and process

Bonus points if you:

  • Have prior in-house experience at a B2B SaaS or AI company

  • Have built legal infrastructure from scratch, including templates, playbooks, and contract systems

  • Understand how AI technologies intersect with privacy

  • Have experience navigating international legal and regulatory requirements

Why Reducto

  • Your work directly shapes how the world's best AI companies access and use enterprise data.

  • We move fast, ship often, and iterate in days, not months.

  • Work alongside world-class engineers, operators, and founders who care deeply about product, precision, and velocity.

Benefits

  • Unlimited PTO, because great work requires recharging.

  • Daily lunch, enjoy free lunch with teammates in the office.

  • $400 commuter stipend

  • Comprehensive Insurance, medical, dental, and vision.

  • Health and wellness budget, up to $150 per month for wellness spending such as gym memberships or fitness classes.

  • Parental leave, flexible scheduling that works for you and your family.

This is an in-person role based in our San Francisco office. We're an early-stage company, we move fast and work hard. Please apply only if that excites you.

Equal Opportunity

Reducto is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to sex, race, color, age, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, or any other protected category.
