Develop algorithms for LiDAR point cloud processing, including design, implementation, testing, and optimization for ARM processors and FPGAs. Collaborate in all stages of development.
About us:
Aeva’s mission is to bring the next wave of perception to a broad range of applications from automated driving to industrial robotics, consumer electronics, consumer health, security, and beyond. Aeva is transforming autonomy with its groundbreaking sensing and perception technology that integrates all key LiDAR components onto a silicon photonics chip in a compact module. Aeva 4D LiDAR sensors uniquely detect instant velocity in addition to 3D position, allowing autonomous devices like vehicles and robots to make more intelligent and safe decisions.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a software engineer to focus on algorithm development for point cloud processing in production software. This role will focus on the design, implementation, and test of algorithms that will be deployed in real-world applications.
What you will do:
- Design and develop signal processing, detection, and lidar algorithms in C++ in production software and simulation platforms.
- Translate floating-point models to fixed-point for optimal implementation on ARM processors and FPGAs.
- Be involved in all stages of algorithm development including data analysis, development, and test.
- Participate in the team's development processes, including requirements and design documentation, test-plan generation and execution, peer design and code reviews, process feedback, and improvements.
What you have:
- Master's degree with 2+ years of industry experience working on software development or a Ph.D. with a focus on lidar algorithms, robotics or signal processing applications
- 3+ years of experience in developing C/C++ applications with a focus on lidar algorithm design
- Good fundamentals in signal processing, probability theory, mathematics and excellent problem-solving skills
- Experience with quantitative data analysis and simulation software in either Python or Matlab
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, communicate effectively, and show initiative in solving complex system-level problems.
Nice to have:
- Previous experience working on point cloud processing and filtering in either radar or lidar systems
- Previous experience writing and deploying software for sensing systems
- Previous experience working on simulation platforms to model hardware systems
- Knowledge of advanced signal processing algorithms for radar, lidar, or communication systems
What’s in it for you:
- Be part of a fast-paced and dynamic team
- Very competitive compensation and meaningful stock grants
- Exceptional benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, and more
- Unlimited PTO: We care about results, not punching timecards
