The Assistant Logistics Manager supports the execution and day-to-day coordination of logistics, transportation, warehousing, and distribution operations. This role partners closely with the Logistics Manager to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective movement of goods while maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. The Assistant Logistics Manager plays a key role in operational execution, data analysis, continuous improvement, and cross-functional coordination.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)
Operational Support & Coordination (30%)
- Assist in overseeing daily logistics, transportation, and order fulfillment activities.
- Support planning and execution of inbound and outbound shipments to meet service level expectations.
- Coordinate with warehouse operations to align shipping priorities and capacity.
Carrier & Vendor Management (15%)
- Support relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and 3PL partners.
- Assist with monitoring carrier performance, service issues, and corrective actions.
- Support contract compliance and documentation requirements.
Data Analysis & Reporting (15%)
- Track and analyze logistics KPIs including transportation costs, on-time delivery, and service levels.
- Prepare routine reports and dashboards for leadership review.
- Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for process improvement.
Compliance & Documentation (15%)
- Assist in ensuring compliance with local, national, and international shipping regulations.
- Support accurate documentation for domestic and international shipments, including import/export requirements.
- Partner with safety and compliance teams to support audits and inspections.
- Oversee and confirm accuracy with delivery logs, route sheets, DVIRs, DOT HOS, and required paperwork.
- Understanding of traffic laws, safety regulations, and company fleet policies.
- Assist in compliance with FMCSA guidelines, including maintaining a complete Driver Qualification (DQ) file for all In-House Delivery drivers.
- Assist with compliance of annual driving record reviews, safety evaluations, and required certifications.
Continuous Improvement & Projects (15%)
- Support logistics improvement initiatives focused on cost reduction, efficiency, and service improvement.
- Participate in special projects, peak planning, and product launch coordination.
- Assist with implementation and adoption of ERP, WMS, and logistics technology tools.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Support (10%)
- Provide daily guidance and support to logistics coordinators or clerical staff as assigned.
- Serve as a backup to the Logistics Manager as needed.
- Collaborate with internal teams including procurement, production, sales, and customer service.
- Monitor logistics budgets and prepare regular reports on KPIs such as transportation costs, delivery times, and service levels
- Plan and coordinate logistics activities during peak periods, product launches, or special projects
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or warehouse operations.
- Working knowledge of logistics, inventory management, and transportation processes.
- Experience using ERP, WMS, or TMS systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience supporting domestic and international logistics operations.
- Familiarity with lean logistics or continuous improvement methodologies.
- APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or Six Sigma certification preferred.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.

$71,900 - $115,000 / year
