Lead and execute migrations of mainframe application source control and DevOps pipelines to IBM tooling (DBB, Git, IDz, IDD). Perform conversion analysis, install/configure/troubleshoot migration tools, support build/branching/pipeline transitions, validate converted applications, and deliver customer training and technical presentations in z/OS/IBM Z environments.
Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mainframe DevOps Migration Consultant to support application migration programs on IBM Z. This role focuses on migration from competitive source-code management and DevOps tooling to IBM solutions such as DBB, Git, IDz, and IDD / DevOps Deploy. The role requires hands-on migration delivery, conversion analysis, troubleshooting, and client-facing support in complex z/OS environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support migration projects from CA Endevor and other source-code management platforms to IBM DBB, Git, IDz, and IBM DevOps Deploy / IDD.
- Analyze, convert, and validate existing Endevor-based applications and development flows.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot IBM DevOps migration tools in customer environments.
- Support build, branching, repository, and pipeline transition activities in IBM Z DevOps
- Prepare and deliver customer training sessions and technical presentations related to DevOps migration and IBM tooling.
Mandatory Skills and Experience
- Strong z/OS / IBM Z mainframe background with application development, system programming, or software change management experience.
- Hands-on migration experience from Non-IBM / ISV DevOps or SCM tools—especially CA Endevor—to IBM DBB, Git, IDz, and IBM DevOps Deploy / IDD.
- Practical experience analyzing, converting, validating, and troubleshooting migration of application build and change-management processes.
- Strong working knowledge of TSO/ISPF, JCL, USS, and REXX.
- Working knowledge of Git, repositories, branching, YAML, Groovy scripting, and pipeline/build debugging.
- Strong problem-determination skills and the ability to support customers through migration-related issues.
Preferred / Additional Skills
- Experience with applications development on IBM Z.
- Exposure to related migration areas such as Easytrieve-to-COBOL conversion and IBM Migration Utility.
- Hands-on experience in mainframe modernization and enterprise DevOps transformation.
