About the role and team

Working at Uber means solving hard problems in a high-stakes, fast-moving environment. As an Accounting Manager, you will be a key leader within our Global Accounting Team, moving beyond basic bookkeeping to manage complex financial landscapes at a global scale. You will lead a team of Senior Accountants to ensure the integrity of our month-end close and internal controls, acting as a bridge between digital financial systems and real-world business impact.

The pace here is intense and the stakes are high, requiring a mindset that thrives on ambiguity and a drive to challenge the status quo. You’ll need to balance technical precision with the agility to lead automation and process improvement initiatives across cross-functional teams like FinTech and Tax. This role is for someone who takes extreme ownership of their work, stays resilient through shifting priorities, and is motivated by the opportunity to build scalable, world-class accounting processes.

What you’ll do

  • Manage and oversee a team to complete the month-end close process, ensuring the accuracy of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting packages.
  • Navigate and resolve complex accounting problems across the business, providing technical guidance to cross-functional partners while balancing short-term urgency with long-term scalability.
  • Lead high-impact process improvement and automation projects, partnering with FinTech to design and implement financial systems that reduce manual debt and increase efficiency.
  • Own the internal control environment by performing and maintaining SOX controls, ensuring all global accounting processes are audit-ready and compliant with Uber’s policies.
  • Coach and develop a team of Senior Accountants, setting high performance bars and providing real-time feedback to help them grow through the unique challenges of a global tech environment.
  • Collaborate across disciplines—including Tax, Payroll, and Financial Risk Management—to unblock dependencies and ensure consistent financial results across various legal entities and regions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance.
  • 6+ years of operational accounting experience in a public accounting firm or a multinational corporation.
  • Solid knowledge of U.S. GAAP, public company audit requirements, and financial statement analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA certification.
  • Experience implementing or operating in a SOX effective environment.
  • Past experience as a people manager, driving performance in a complex environment.
  • Experience with Oracle or other large-scale ERP systems in a high-volume corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently resolve complex problems and influence senior management decision-making.
  • Strong systems thinking with experience in managing outsourced service providers (GBS).
