The Manager of Desktop Engineering is a hands-on technical position, responsible for the delivery, reliability, and ongoing improvement of the firm’s end user computing platforms. This role owns defined desktop engineering platforms and initiatives, ensuring services are secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational standards.

The Manager works closely with cross-functional partners across Information Security, Infrastructure, Networking, and User Support to execute platform enhancements, maintain operational stability, and support modernization efforts that improve end user experience and reduce risk.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Endpoint Platform Ownership

  • Own the day-to-day delivery and evolution of assigned end user computing platforms, including:
    • Windows and macOS endpoints
    • Virtual desktop platforms (e.g., Windows 365)
    • Application deployment, patching, and lifecycle management
    • Endpoint configuration and management standards
  • Ensure platforms operate reliably, securely, and at scale through proactive maintenance and oversight

Security, Compliance & Risk

  • Partner with Information Security to implement and sustain:
    • Endpoint security baselines
    • Device compliance and access controls
    • Hardening standards and remediation actions
  • Support internal, regulatory, and audit requirements related to endpoint environments
  • Participate in investigation and remediation of endpoint-related security events and incidents

Engineering Standards & Automation

  • Maintain engineering standards for builds, configurations, deployments, scripting, and documentation
  • Drive improvements in efficiency and quality through automation and tooling (e.g., PowerShell, Intune capabilities)
  • Contribute to efforts to modernize endpoint management and reduce reliance on legacy processes and tools

Project & Initiative Delivery

  • Execute desktop engineering initiatives such as OS upgrades, security enhancements, platform changes, and new technology rollouts
  • Plan, execute, and coordinate assigned projects or workstreams, including testing, scheduling, and stakeholder communication
  • Balance project delivery with operational responsibilities to ensure platform stability

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with:
    • End User Support to improve supportability and reduce recurring issues
    • Infrastructure and Networking teams on dependencies and integrations
    • Training and Knowledge teams to support documentation and user readiness
  • Communicate platform changes, timelines, risks, and dependencies clearly to impacted stakeholders

Continuous Improvement & Quality

  • Support structured testing and pilot programs for platform changes and upgrades
  • Incorporate feedback, incident reviews, and lessons learned into future improvements
  • Maintain accurate documentation, runbooks, and configuration records to support operational consistency

Enterprise AI Tooling

  • Deploy, configure, and support the firm’s enterprise AI assistants, including Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, and Claude Enterprise
  • Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting for end users adopting AI solutions
  • Stay current on AI tool capabilities and feature changes to guide safe, effective, and

Who You Are:

  • Strong experience with enterprise end user computing and desktop engineering platforms
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex desktop, application, and deployment issues
  • Ability to own complex technical areas and deliver outcomes
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience

  • Seven or more years of experience in desktop engineering, endpoint management, or end user computing roles in an enterprise environment
  • Experience supporting OS upgrades, security initiatives, and platform modernization efforts
  • Prior responsibility for platform or service ownership strongly preferred
  • Relevant technical certifications preferred but not required
  • Solid understanding of endpoint security, compliance, and risk considerations
  • Organized and execution-focused, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and priorities
  • Project management skills and experience coordinating technical workstreams a plus
  • Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical partners

The Target Salary Range For This Position Varies By Location And Is Commensurate With Relevant Experience: $160,000.00 - $210,000.00
