About the Role

We are seeking a highly strategic and outcomes-oriented Strategic Operations Manager to join the Earner Marketplace & Matching team within Uber's US & Canada Mobility business.

This team owns some of Uber's most important marketplace optimization challenges, shaping the strategies behind driver pricing, incentives, matching, positioning, and other marketplace levers that together determine marketplace reliability, efficiency, and long-term supply health. You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Operations teams to define strategies for solving complex marketplace challenges, influencing the evolution of Uber's marketplace technology and operations to deliver meaningful business impact.

As a senior operations leader for Earner Pricing and Matching, you will identify the highest-impact opportunities across the marketplace, develop long-term strategy, and drive complex cross-functional initiatives from concept through implementation. You'll turn ambiguous business challenges into clear strategies, align stakeholders around a shared direction, and drive execution to improve outcomes for drivers, riders, and Uber.

This role requires someone who can operate at multiple altitudes: setting long-term strategic direction while diving deep into complex marketplace problems to identify structural opportunities, evaluate difficult tradeoffs, and develop data-driven solutions. You'll be expected to lead through ambiguity, influence senior stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Operations, and deliver lasting marketplace and business impact.
What You’ll Do

  • Strategic direction: Define and drive the long-term strategy for Earner Pricing and Matching, identifying the highest-impact opportunities to improve marketplace performance. Define strategic priorities, influence Tech roadmaps, and drive cross-functional initiatives across Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Operations to improve reliability, marketplace efficiency, and earner outcomes.
  • Deep marketplace expertise: Synthesize insights across pricing, matching, incentives, positioning, and quality to develop a holistic view of how these marketplace levers collectively drive outcomes. Use this perspective to identify structural opportunities, diagnose complex marketplace challenges through deep dives, and develop cohesive strategies that improve marketplace performance.
  • Strategic problem solving: Lead the team's most complex and ambiguous work, framing problems, developing business strategy, and translating analytical insights into clear recommendations. Build compelling business cases, navigate difficult tradeoffs, and drive high-impact initiatives from concept through implementation.
  • Strategic influence & communication: Champion the team's strategy through clear, compelling, and data-driven communication. Build alignment across Product, Engineering, Data Science, Operations, and leadership, influence key decisions and long-term priorities, and represent the team's perspective in high-impact forums.

Basic Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
Experience: 7+ years of experience in operations, product operations, analytics, strategy, management consulting, product management, or a similar role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strategic thinking & business acumen: Demonstrated ability to develop long-term strategies, evaluate complex business tradeoffs, and identify high-impact opportunities in ambiguous environments.
  • Analytical problem solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience structuring complex problems, synthesizing large volumes of data, and translating insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Marketplace mindset: Ability to connect insights across complex systems, understand how they interact to drive marketplace outcomes, and translate those insights into cohesive business strategies.
  • Communication & influence: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build alignment and influence senior stakeholders through clear, data-driven narratives.
  • Execution & leadership: Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives from strategy through execution, driving results in fast-paced, highly collaborative environments.
