About the Job:

As Manager, Electrical Engineering at Hayden AI, your role is to design and guide development of our hardware product for computer vision and telemetry. You'll lead our hardware projects and engineers through the design process, from concept to manufacturing. Join us, and together, we will push the boundaries of what is possible in mobile perception and shape the future of technology.

Responsibilities:   
  • Lead electrical design of Edge AI products including but not limited to Automotive grade Edge AI computers and cameras while driving innovation and excellence. 

  • Champion collaboration cross functionally with mechanical, test, regulatory, manufacturing and installation teams by navigating the design from concept to launch. 

  • Develop product specifications, design circuits, perform design reviews and improve design 

  • Generate working prototypes for proof of concept and customer demonstrations

  • Lead hands on involvement with building, debugging, and maintaining product builds 

  • Develop test plans and processes, execute testing and guide validation of new designs

  • Own the electrical design part of the Edge AI system projects, strive for performance and improvements, seek out opportunities to make things work better - it's about continuous improvement.

  • Ensure deliverables for the project are on track and stays within project budget

  • Partner with vendors and contract manufacturers to develop and manufacture electronic parts, modules and products

  • Work with the cross functional teams to get products certified for compliance.

  • Lead and mentor electrical engineering team members, providing technical guidance, fostering professional development, supporting career growth, and ensuring high-quality execution across projects.

Qualifications: 
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent 

  • 10+ years of work experience in related space with 4+ years of included management experience leading and managing design and test engineers

  • Expert in collaborating and working cross functionally by influencing the decision making

  • Ability to communicate job expectations, monitor and review job contributions of team members

  • Experience building perception hardware like computers and cameras for installation in vehicles

  • Experience in successfully delivering hardware products from concept to production

  • Excelled in delivering the product per project time line and deliverables within the budget

  • Contributed to defining the product requirements, project time line and product costs

  • Very good understanding of automotive product development and related specifications

  • Expert on circuit design, schematic capture, pcb layout, system validation testing and related specifications

  • Hands-on with design and simulation tools like Orcad, Spice, Allegro and Altium

  • Hands-on with hardware lab equipments like high speed scopes, VNAs, Logic analyzers and like

  • Worked with cross functional teams for system bring up, evaluation of AI processor platforms, cameras and telematics sensors  

  • Worked or has experience with high and low speed interfaces - PCIe, USB, HDMI/DP, UARTs, GMSL, LVDS, MIPI, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, CAN etc.,

  • Good understanding of Imaging related components and design Camera, Image sensors, ISP, Optics selection and related interfaces

  • Working experience with GPS, 4G/LTE, 5G modem based design, WiFi, BLE and IOT devices, RF antenna selection and design  their operation and implementation

  • Understanding of regulatory testing and compliance needs for Americas and EU

  • Experience with designing and compliance testing for ESD, EMI, UL, SAE, Automotive standards.

  • Keen interest towards improving development processes, design documentation and team collaboration.

  • Strong sense of leadership and teamwork, capable of designing, guiding and supporting a team of engineers to collectively achieve project goals.

  • Strong problem-solving and innovation, with a hands-on approach to building and refining hardware products. Ability to creatively tackle engineering challenges and continuously improve solutions.

  • Possess a practical understanding of electromechanical system and CAD development, able to oversee the complete design and engineering process with confidence.

  • Requires on site, minimum of 3-5 days a week in the San Francisco office.
