Position Overview

As a Hardware Manager in our Systems Engineering group, you will be responsible for delivering complex systems, taking them from concept design to production. These hardware designs incorporate high-speed optical and electrical I/O, ASICs, Processors, FPGAs and connectors on high-speed PCBs and Power delivery. The overall system enclosure may also include cabling and cooling sub-systems.

 

Your responsibilities include managing all phases of the system and electrical development, including definition, simulation, design, qualification and product release. To deliver these systems, you will collaborate with product management, architecture, ASIC, software and ODM/JDM teams. This is an exciting position that requires deep knowledge, excellent development methodology and strong people & communication skills.

Responsibilities 
  • Work cross-functionally to turn high-level requirements into detailed Hardware Specifications
  • Oversee the hardware development including schematic entry, layout and design reviews
  • Oversee Signal Integrity and Power Integrity analysis
  • Develop technology de-risk plans through supplier evaluations and early prototypes.
  • Manage the development and execution of test plans (including BringUp, EDVT, MDVT and EMI/EMC)
  • Drive the system from prototypes to full production, meeting Quality, Cost, Schedule and Budget targets.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that include goals, schedules, risks, mitigation and status, and present them in Commit and Review milestones
  • Manage ODM/JDM development, ensuring deliverables are met on time, and with quality
  • Lead a hardware development team, recruiting members and ensuring their success individually and as a team
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in system-level development
  • Outstanding knowledge of hardware design process and design practices
  • A track record of delivering high-speed products from concept to production
  • Good understanding of high-speed design and signal & power integrity considerations
  • Prior experience in Project or Program Management
  • Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.
  • 3-4+ years of leadership experience is ideal.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • Prior work within the server or networking industries (highly desirable).
  • Proficiency in high-speed technologies including Ethernet, PCIe, SerDes and/or Optical modules (eg SFPs, QSFPs, OSFPs).
  • Proficiency in control-plane protocols including I2C, SPI, PMBUS.
  • Good understanding of FPGA design, verification and synthesis process.
  • Good understanding of Clocking, Power delivery.
  • Good systems knowledge, including Chassis, Connectors, Cabling and Thermals.
  • Strong people management skills, including mentorship and fostering success in the team.

The starting base salary for the selected candidate will be established based on their relevant skills, experience, qualifications, work location, market trends, and the compensation of employees in comparable roles.
