The Manager of Human Resources will oversee core HR operations, collaborating with leadership to manage employee lifecycle, benefits, payroll, and compliance, with potential for strategic growth.
Meet the Company:
We are MERU. A values-driven, impact-oriented team dedicated to fixing companies. We provide advisory services and data analytics support to middle-market companies ($50M - $2B in annual sales), and our clients include private equity firms, credit funds, investment banks, and law firms. We bring deep turnaround experience, a group of veteran operators, and an incentive-aligned approach to any situation. MERU was founded by professionals from Alvarez & Marsal and McKinsey and has seen rapid growth in the eight-plus years since its founding.
The Manager, Human Resources, is responsible for the execution of core HR operations within a growing professional services firm. This role is intentionally scoped toward operational ownership and day-to-day administration, reflecting the firm’s current stage and near-term growth plans.
This individual will partner closely with leadership, Finance, Recruiting, and other People functions to ensure HR fundamentals—employee lifecycle operations, benefits, payroll coordination, compliance, systems, and immigration—are executed accurately, consistently, and on time.
While the initial scope is execution-heavy, this role offers room to expand into more strategic areas over time as the firm grows and infrastructure matures. This is an ideal role for an experienced HR professional who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves today and interested in growing their scope in the future.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- HR certification preferred (PHR, SHRM-CP, SPHR, SHRM-SCP)
- 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within professional services or high-growth environments
- Demonstrated experience with HR administration, benefits, payroll coordination, and compliance
- Experience supporting employment-based immigration processes preferred
- Comfort operating in a lean environment with evolving structure
Core Competencies
- High attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
- Sound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive matters
- Practical, clear communicator who works effectively with leadership, Finance, Recruiting, and People partners
- Comfortable operating without extensive infrastructure; able to move initiatives/projects forward amid ambiguity
Potential Growth Areas:
As MERU continues to grow, this role may expand to include broader people initiatives such as:
- Increased ownership of onboarding programs (not part of the initial scope)
- Support for performance management cycles and assessment processes
- Workforce planning and staffing analytics
- Deeper partnership with leadership on people programs and infrastructure
