Job Description

Condé Nast is seeking a Manager, Legal Operations to support the operational aspects of the Business & Legal Affairs department. The Manager, Legal Operations plays a critical role in ensuring the efficiency, effectiveness, and strategic alignment of the global Business & Legal Affairs team. This role will report to the Vice President for Corporate & Commercial in the Business & Legal Affairs department and will focus on supporting outside counsel billing and engagement, assisting with legal department budgeting and reporting, helping to improve workflows and processes, and setting up and managing legal technology tools and innovation initiatives. What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for legal operations of a global Business & Legal Affairs team that operates in multiple timezone

  • Support budget monitoring, expense accruals, and reporting in partnership with Finance and department leadership and serve as a day-to-day contact for routine billing questions

  • Support outside counsel onboarding and engagement processes, including development and and monitoring of outside counsel guidelines

  • Track all pending litigation, including keeping track of outside counsel budget for pending cases and risk assessment, and serving as point of contact for Finance and the legal department of Condé Nast’s parent company, Advance

  • Negotiate with vendors, demo platforms, modify subscriptions, maintain rosters, review and pay invoices, frequent communication with vendors and continual search for new tools/platforms for use by the Business & Legal Affairs Team

  • Assist in documenting and improving legal department workflows and operational processes

  • Maintain litigation tracking, process documentation, templates, and internal guidance materials

  • Work closely with the legal operations team of Conde Nast’s parent company, Advance, to support the use, maintenance, and optimization of legal technology tools

  • Provide project support for recurring and ad hoc legal operations initiatives, including assisting with data collection, reporting, and administrative support for departmental projects
     

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of legal operations experience in a law firm or in-house legal department

  • Familiarity with outside counsel billing practices and legal department financial processes

  • Experience with legal technology platforms (e-billing, matter management, document management, or similar systems) preferred

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable working across legal, finance, and operations teams

  • Interest in legal operations, technology, and process improvement

  • Salary Range: $100,000-$125,000
