Job Description

Fortune Brands Innovations is hiring a Manager, Product Integrity to join our Connected Products team. Product Integrity is the team that confirms our connected products — Flo by Moen water devices, Yale and August smart locks, and Master Lock connected padlocks — do what their requirements say they do before they reach a customer. This role leads that team and owns the bridge between requirements and proof: taking what Product, Systems Architecture, and Compliance ask for and turning it into tests with a method, a sample size, and a pass/fail criterion.

The role also owns 100% end-of-line testing at the factory, including test fixture design and test software. Depending on test complexity, fixtures are built fully in-house or developed with a supplier.

We are looking for a leader who can spearhead the product quality and integrity function covering test definition, systems integration, test execution, and holding a high product integrity bar. This leader will lead a hardware testing team. The right person understands the whole product — electrical, mechanical, firmware, and how they interact — well enough to argue a requirement with Product, an interface with Architecture, and the statistics with Reliability, and then run the lab that proves it.

Position location: this position is eligible to work in a hybrid environment out of our North Olmsted, OH or San Francisco, CA locations. Remote days are Monday and Friday.

What you will own

  • The Product Integrity team. Lead a team of test engineers covering production and 100% test, hardware test, reliability test, quality inspection, and overall confirmation of product requirements. You set the direction and the standard; the team executes.
  • Requirements into tests. Turn every hardware requirement in the PRD — from Product, Systems Architecture, and Compliance — into a testable requirement with a method, a sample size, an acceptance criterion, and a gate. Product defines the design envelope; you define how we test to it.
  • Gate evidence. Every stage gate (EVT, DVT, PVT) carries your evidence package: what was tested, against which requirement, with what result.
  • Reliability. Define the reliability test plan for each program and own the statistics behind it: sample sizes, confidence levels, and acceleration factors for environmental testing.
  • Production test. Develop fixtures and test software that meet approved cycle times, with test limits tied to expected field performance.
  • Field performance. Review returns and field data, and feed what you learn back into requirements and test plans.

The team and the logistics

  • Team: test engineers covering production test, hardware test, reliability test, and quality inspection. The lab is in North Olmsted.
  • Location: North Olmsted, OH or San Francisco, CA. If based in San Francisco, expect occasional travel to North Olmsted.
  • Travel: ~15%. Travel to factories in Nogales and Tecate, Mexico; Hanoi, Vietnam; and between North Olmsted and San Francisco.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • 10+ years on connected consumer hardware spanning electrical, mechanical, and firmware.
  • Experience developing factory test fixtures at both board level and end of line.
  • Experience writing requirements and V&V plans.
  • Reliability engineering fluency: accelerated life testing, Weibull and AFR math, sample sizing at a stated confidence, HALT/HASS, thermal, drop, and cycle life. You can design a plan and read a failure.
  • Production test experience: fixtures, test software, DFT, cycle time, and yield at a contract manufacturer.
  • Has led a small technical team and is comfortable setting direction for test engineers who are more hands-on than you.

Nice to have

  • Battery power model development.
  • Sensor products with calibration and drift requirements.
  • Sealed or outdoor enclosures.
  • RF performance characterization.
  • Certification literacy across safety (UL), RF (FCC), and interop (Matter/CSA); NSF/IAPMO for water products or BHMA for locks.
