Engineering Manager, Search Discovery About the Team

The Search Discovery team owns the analytical and investigative surfaces of Cribl Search -- dashboards, notebooks, visualizations, AI-assisted investigations, and the discovery layer that helps customers get the most value out of their data.

Our mission: make it effortless for customers to explore, visualize, investigate, and act on their data through powerful, intuitive analytical experiences.

This team builds the capabilities that turn raw search results into insight: interactive dashboards, collaborative notebooks for deep analysis, rich visualizations and AI-powered investigation tools. They also own the performance and scalability of these surfaces at enterprise scale.

We're looking for an Engineering Manager who's as excited about analytical tooling and user experience as they are about building high-performing teams.

What You'll Do
  • Lead and grow a senior team of engineers building Cribl's dashboards, notebooks, visualizations, investigations, and analytical discovery capabilities.
  • Partner closely with Product to translate vision into execution -- surfacing ideas, shaping direction, and communicating the "why" to your team with clarity and energy.
  • Drive the team's delivery rhythm across dashboards, notebooks, visualizations, scheduled searches, AI-assisted workflows, and performance improvements that directly shape how customers interact with Cribl Search.
  • Shape technical direction alongside staff+ engineers, ensuring architectural decisions balance speed, quality, and long-term scalability.
  • Mentor and develop engineers at all levels, creating shared ownership and clarity across a technically deep, senior team.
  • Act as a storyteller for the team -- connecting individual work to broader product vision and customer value.

What We're Looking For
  • 7+ years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years managing a team focused on user-facing product development.
  • Background in search, observability, analytics, or data visualization platforms.
  • Experience leading senior/staff-level engineers who operate with high autonomy.
  • Strong PM partnership skills -- comfortable co-creating roadmaps, translating product vision, and navigating ambiguity.
  • Comfort with fast-paced environments where priorities shift and the team is central to the product's identity.
