Overview of the Role:
Salesforce is looking for technically strong, energetic, highly collaborative, and passionate leaders to lead our software engineering teams! You will run and lead a team/teams of outstanding developers and keep quality in mind. We work in a collaborative environment, and we value open communication, feedback and making learning fun!
Your Impact and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and lead critical architecture discussions and planning, ensuring technical decisions support long-term product success, stability, and scalability

  • Proactively foresee and resolve systemic issues before they impact the product

  • Advocate for technical excellence and guide teams toward resilient, high-quality engineering practices

  • Lead multi-functional coordination, planning, and reviews with peers and leads across the organization to ensure smooth delivery and unified technical direction

  • Act as a multiplier by providing exceptional mentorship, technical guidance, and career development.

  • Empower teams to self-coordinate and maintain high morale.

  • Actively participate in the hiring and interview process to maintain and grow a high-performance engineering culture.

  • Partner closely with Product Owners (POs) and other stakeholders to align engineering efforts with product objectives, define clear priorities, manage tradeoffs, and communicate execution risks

  • Occasionally contribute to deeply technical development tasks to maintain hands-on expertise and provide critical support.

  • Ensure teams are equipped with clear priorities and adequate resources to maintain velocity and deliver committed outcomes

  • Make critical, data-driven decisions that directly contribute to the success and reliability of the product

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive industry experience, including 3+ years directly managing and mentoring high-performing software engineering teams

  • Deep technical background in scalable, highly available platform development, with a focus on Java/JVM languages and modern cloud architecture

  • Leading teams and/or hands-on experience utilizing a major public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP) combined with expertise in Kubernetes and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).

  • Proven track record for implementing end-to-end service ownership, focusing on building reliable, self-healing services and driving robust automation

  • Demonstrated success in leading complex programs and effectively managing cross-functional stakeholders within a highly matrixed organization

  • Experience driving strategy around and actively utilizing open-source technologies

  • Strong foundation in Agile/Scrum methodologies, emphasizing secure coding practices and uncompromising code quality

  • Exceptional communication, influence, and interpersonal skills needed to inspire teams, drive technical alignment, and collaborate effectively

  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience, or a Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) and two (2) years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active, hands-on proficiency with AI development tools; full utilization is the baseline expectation, along with deep technical expertise sufficient to evaluate architectural integrity and make informed decisions about AI-generated output.

  • Experience assessing candidates on their ability to formulate effective prompts, evaluate AI outputs, and orchestrate multi-agent workflows in addition to foundational technical skills.

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $148,500 - $260,100 annually. In select cities within the San Francisco and New York City metropolitan area, the base salary range for this role is $178,900 - $285,800 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
