Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Manager, System Integration & Test (SI&T) to join our Systems Test Engineering organization. In this role, you will lead a high-performing team of mechanical, electrical, and software test engineers responsible for the planning, execution, and reporting of system-level verification and validation across Form Energy’s integrated test assets.

You will own the end-to-end testing workflow on system-level test beds—including the System Integration Test Bed (SITB), Network Test Bed (NTB), Pack Systems Test Bed (PSTB), Quad-Skid Test Bed (QTB), and Dual-Pack Test Bed (DPTB). Your team’s mandate spans requirement-driven (VERTs/VALs) and DFMEA-driven test campaigns across all primary hardware and software subsystems.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the scaling of our battery technology and be part of the growth of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!

Relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do:
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and systems test engineers across hardware and software disciplines.

  • Own the strategy, test definition, and campaign execution for system-level requirement verification (VERTs) and validation (VALs) following the Test @ Form process.

  • Oversee DFMEA risk-mitigation testing and burn-down programs across integrated test assets.

  • Direct system-level testing across all core energy storage and plant disciplines:

    • Electrical & Power: High-voltage distribution, DC/DC converters, grid inverters, Power Plant Controllers (PPC), and power flow testing.

    • Networking & Communications: Block-level communication protocols (CAN, Modbus, Ethernet), network latency, and telemetry robustness.

    • Battery Management Systems (BMS): HW/SW system-level integration, state machine verification, and safety interlock validation.

  • Own key technical deployment gates to greenlight hardware transitions between prototype, factory functional testing (FF1), and field deployment sites.

  • Manage issue logging, root-cause analysis (RCA), and failure triage using the Form Issue Tracker (FIT / JIRA).

What you'll bring:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.

  • 8+ years of engineering experience in system integration, hardware verification, or test engineering, with 2+ years of direct people management leading engineering teams.

  • Deep technical background in complex multi-physics systems (e.g., energy storage systems, electric vehicles, grid-scale power electronics, or heavy industrial automation).

  • Direct experience managing requirements-driven testing, DFMEA risk-mitigation burn-down, and hazard/safety verification.

  • Hands-on expertise with power conversion systems (Inverters, DC/DC), high-voltage DC architectures, industrial communication buses (CAN, Modbus, Ethernet), and automated test software/HIL framework integration.

  • Proven track record of cross-functional alignment, executive-level status reporting, and managing risk escalations under tight development schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with grid-scale energy storage certification standards (e.g., UL 9540A, UL 1973, UL 991, UL 1998).

  • Direct experience operating Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) or physical integrated system test beds.

  • Proficiency with Atlassian toolsets (JIRA, Confluence) and Python/MATLAB/LabVIEW test automation ecosystems.
