About Ramp

Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $200B in annualized spend flows in and out of 70,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.

The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.

We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.

The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same.

If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it.

About the Role

Ramp is hiring a Director of Technical Consulting to lead the post-sales Technical Consultant (TC) organization. This leader will own how Ramp helps complex customers move from signed deal to successful activation, with particular focus on technical implementation, integrations, and the operating model that allows the team to scale.

You will lead a growing organization of Technical Consultants and frontline managers, partnering closely with Customer Success, Account Management, Product, and Engineering. TCs are the technical counterpart in Ramp’s post-sales motion: they help customers navigate integration and implementation complexity, translate customer requirements into clear technical paths, and bring the right internal teams together when a solution needs to scale.

This is not a traditional pre-sales Solutions Consulting role, and it is not a pure professional-services model. We are looking for a leader who can combine technical implementation judgment with strong people leadership, operational rigor, and the ability to build durable systems in a fast-moving environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and develop Ramp’s Technical Consulting organization, including frontline managers and a growing team of Technical Consultants.

  • Define the operating model for Technical Consulting: team structure, capacity planning, engagement rules, escalation paths, and a clear partnership model with Customer Success, Account Management, and Forward Deployed Engineering.

  • Build repeatable, high-quality technical implementation and activation motions for enterprise and strategic customers with complex integration needs.

  • Help the team navigate technical tradeoffs across APIs, data flows, identity, HRIS, ERP, and other connected systems, while keeping customer solutions scalable and aligned with Ramp’s product strategy.

  • Partner with Product and Engineering to turn recurring customer needs and implementation friction into better product capabilities, technical assets, and prioritized roadmap input.

  • Establish a practical set of KPIs for implementation quality, activation, technical risk, capacity, customer outcomes, and team impact.

  • Coach managers and ICs to balance customer urgency with disciplined scope management, avoiding one-off custom work when a repeatable solution is the better long-term answer.

  • Serve as a senior escalation leader for complex customer situations, bringing clarity, accountability, and strong cross-functional judgment when technical delivery is at risk.

  • Work with Sales and Account Management on clean handoffs, technical context, and customer growth opportunities when technical partnership is needed. This is a post-sales delivery role, not a quota-carrying pre-sales leadership position.

What Success Looks Like

In your first 6 months, you will:

  • Build a clear, scalable TC/CSM/FDE operating model that improves accountability and customer experience.

  • Strengthen the team’s implementation playbooks, technical escalation process, and Product/Engineering feedback loop.

  • Give leaders and executives reliable visibility into TC capacity, technical risk, activation progress, and the team’s business impact.

  • Develop a high-performing management layer and help the team support increasing enterprise and strategic complexity without relying on heroics.

What You Bring
  • 10+ years of experience leading customer-facing technical delivery in SaaS, fintech, infrastructure, or enterprise software. Relevant backgrounds include Technical Consulting, implementation, Professional Services, Technical Account Management, Solutions Architecture, or similar post-sales technical functions.

  • 5+ years of people leadership experience, including experience leading managers and building or scaling technical teams.

  • Experience in a high-growth company where you helped make a technical post-sales motion more enterprise-ready.

  • A track record of leading multi-month, complex customer implementations involving integrations, technical dependencies, and multiple internal and external stakeholders.

  • Strong technical implementation judgment. You can discuss integration design, APIs, data flows, system constraints, and implementation tradeoffs with credibility; you do not need to be the primary custom-code builder.

  • Experience working closely with Product and Engineering to turn customer needs into scalable solutions rather than repeated one-off work.

  • Demonstrated ability to build operating mechanisms: capacity models, implementation standards, metrics, escalation processes, team rituals, and cross-functional decision paths.

  • Clear, concise executive communication and strong stakeholder management, especially in high-stakes customer and internal situations.

  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and building where process, tooling, and ownership are still evolving.

Nice To Have
  • Experience with financial systems, spend management, accounting workflows, controllership needs, or enterprise finance products.

  • Familiarity with systems commonly connected to Ramp, including ERP, HRIS, identity, or procurement platforms.

  • Experience using AI tools to improve technical troubleshooting, operating workflows, knowledge management, or customer implementation.
