What we are looking for

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer  to join our team. The goal of a Manufacturing  at Wisk is to ensure that aircraft components are designed and are manufacturable, this includes batteries, composites, motors, wire harnessing and aircraft assembly . You will be part of the Production Engineering team that supports the build for our Generation 6 aircraft.

Achieving our vision requires manufacturing solutions that support the efficient and precise low-rate production of our fully autonomous, all-electric aircraft. We are looking for a Laminate Designer to join our Production Engineering team, with the goal of building the first fully autonomous all-electric aircraft that performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility environment. In support of this goal, you will be part of the team that takes composite part engineering and delivers laminate designs to the manufacturing floor so that these parts can be fabricated. 

Your goal is to make sure that designs are manufacturable and build the aircraft of the future. The successful candidate is knowledgeable and experienced with advanced industrial manufacturing and has direct hands-on experience developing and building type certified aircraft or working in regulated environments. This person also has experience in the fabrication and optimization of manufactured components. In this role, the candidate must be proactive, forward thinking, and self-motivated with the ability to effectively communicate information and ideas with a cross functional and diverse team. 

Due to the nature of the work required for this position, this is an onsite opportunity, requiring you to work from our Mountain View office 5 days per week.

Responsibilities 

  • As part of the Production Engineering organization, and deployed in an integrated product group for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous AAM market.

  • You will take part in creating process flows to be used by design to inform design for manufacturing.

  • You will support manufacturing engineering in the manufacturing process as well as manufacturing technicians in the execution of the builds.

  • You will help support problem solving activities to better optimize the build process and increase manufacturing rates

Requirements

  • B.S. in a relevant engineering discipline with at least 2-4 years of experience working with industrial manufacturing or custom assemblies 

  • You have worked in Aerospace, Automotive, or other industry that requires taking engineering designs to manufacturing floor

  • You have hands-on experience with Composites fabrication, aircraft assembly, Battery manufacturing, motor assembly, or assembly of mechanisms 

  • You have an applied knowledge of NX, Industrial equipment, Precision tooling, or advanced manufacturing systems

  • You are familiar with MES systems, lean manufacturing and aircraft design

  • Understanding and implementation of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5).

  • Familiarity with Siemens tools (NX, TeamCenter, EasyPlan, Opscenter, etc.).

  • Automation design experience at the sub-assembly level.

  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six-Sigma principles.

  • You are a highly motivated, self-starting individual with a broad set of skills and are never afraid of facing complex technical challenges.

  • You are a solution-oriented individual with a strong analytical mindset.

  • You have strong communication skills and can easily tailor your communications to suit the audience.

  • You can adapt quickly or propose changes needed to achieve early results in a timely fashion.

  • You embrace challenges and take commitments and deliver results within reasonable expectations.

  • You are a positive team player.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay range the company expects to pay: $95,000 - $118,000 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
