The Role

Pilot is hiring a Marketing Operations Associate to own the systems our marketing team runs on.

Pilot has spent years providing reliable back office services to over 3,000 businesses so they can focus on running their business. This year we announced our AI accounting platform, Meridian, and it has quickly become an industry leader. As we grow our established back office business while rapidly scaling our AI platform clientele, our marketing motion is changing fast: more campaigns, more events, more channels, and more audiences to reach well.

That work lives in Marketo, and we are looking for someone to own it. You will build the campaigns, nurtures, and programs that go out the door, keep the database and the Salesforce integration in good shape, and make sure what we send can actually be measured afterward. It suits someone who enjoys being inside the tooling and is bothered when a record ends up in the wrong place.

Our marketing stack is Marketo, Marketo Measure, and Salesforce, with Looker for reporting. AI is part of how this team works day to day, and we want someone who already works that way.

Location: San Francisco, CA (3 days/week in office—Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays). #LI-Hybrid

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and QA email programs, nurtures, forms, and campaign programs in Marketo end to end
  • Own Marketo administration: program architecture, smart campaigns, operational programs, templates, and forms
  • Maintain program templates, naming conventions, and folder structure so builds stay consistent and reportable as volume grows
  • Execute list imports and audience builds, including the segmentation and source tagging decisions that go with them
  • Own database health: deduplication, normalization, suppression lists, consent management, and deliverability
  • Monitor and resolve sync issues between Marketo and Salesforce, and own Salesforce campaign setup for marketing programs
  • Help implement and maintain our lead scoring and lifecycle logic across both systems
  • Build campaign and program performance reporting in Salesforce and Looker
  • Support our attribution and Marketo Measure work
  • Manage the request queue against agreed SLAs across competing priorities
About You

You do not need to have used every tool in our stack. Here is what matters.

  • 2+ years in marketing operations with hands on Marketo ownership. You have been the Marketo person somewhere, not someone who submitted requests to one
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce campaigns, lead and contact objects, and how marketing data moves between the two systems
  • Can take a request, decide how to build it, and ship it with confidence
  • Notices when a list, a report, or a sync looks wrong, and goes and finds out why
  • Uses AI as part of how you work. You reach for it to speed up builds, debug logic, write documentation, and work through problems, and you are curious about where else it can help
  • Writes clearly, and documents what was built and why
How We Work
  • Requests arrive as a description of what someone wants sent. The useful question is usually what they are trying to achieve, and the best people here ask it before building
  • You will own your work from the brief through to the send, including the parts nobody is checking
  • Nobody will tell you how to use the stack better. We want someone who finds the improvement and then shows the rest of us
  • We are a small team with a wide range of backgrounds, and we want people who make that easy to be part of
Nice to Haves
  • Marketo Certified Expert
  • Marketo Measure, or a comparable attribution platform
  • Looker or a comparable BI tool
  • Experience supporting more than one business line or audience segment
  • B2B SaaS, fintech, accounting software, or professional services background
