About Veev

Veev is leading the transformation of the construction industry with an innovative approach to modular home construction. Veev’s prefabricated closed-panel systems allow homes to be assembled efficiently on-site while delivering a more sustainable and higher-quality final product than traditional construction. As a new subsidiary of Lennar, Veev leverages the strength and scale of its parent company while maintaining the speed and disruptive approach of its roots as a Silicon Valley-based startup. Veev has developed a vertically integrated approach that involves multidisciplinary collaboration across real estate, design, development, engineering, manufacturing, and construction.

This role plays a key part in advancing Veev’s mission by ensuring mechanical designs are accurate, manufacturable, and seamlessly integrated with adjacent systems. As a Mechanical CAD Engineer, your work will directly support Veev’s ability to scale operations and deliver innovative, high-quality housing solutions.

The Role

As a Mechanical CAD Engineer, you will support production and new product introduction (NPI) efforts by developing and maintaining detailed mechanical CAD models, assemblies, and documentation. Your work will translate engineering intent into clear, manufacturable designs that support fabrication, installation, and ongoing product updates.

You will collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and field teams to resolve design challenges, improve buildability, and ensure alignment with company standards. This role also contributes to the evolution of Veev’s digital twin by enhancing the accuracy, consistency, and usability of CAD data across the product lifecycle.

This role is best suited for engineers who take pride in seeing their designs built and are comfortable working close to fabrication and installation teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development and release of production-ready CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and BOMs, ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and alignment with fabrication and installation requirements.
  • Contributing to the evolution of company modeling standards, workflows, infrastructure, and strategies for the design environment.
  • Undertake QA/QC MCAD content with responsibility for ensuring compliance with company standards and industry best practices.
  • Supporting engineering and R&D teams in completing the delivery of new designs and R&D concepts.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve design challenges, ensuring coordinated, manufacturable solutions across mechanical, structural, and MEP systems.
  • Maintain alignment with internal stakeholders, keeping them informed of progress and key developments.
  • Support fabrication and field teams during initial builds, identifying design gaps and driving improvements based on real-world production and installation feedback.
  • Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with evolving inputs, balancing speed and precision to deliver high-quality production outcomes.

Must-Have Skills and Competencies

  • 3-4 years of hands-on SolidWorks experience creating production-level CAD models and drawings.
  • Strong foundation in mechanical design and drafting principles, including applicable industry standards.
  • Experience with parametric modeling and well-structured CAD design intent.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems design, with exposure to MEP-related components (mounting, routing, interfaces, coordination).
  • Ability to interpret and create technical drawings for manufacturing and installation.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing methods, materials, and production workflows, with the ability to design for manufacturability and assembly.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation discipline.
  • Ability to develop highly structured, scalable CAD models that support reuse, standardization, and downstream manufacturing workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple design tasks in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment.

A successful candidate will be creative and proactive, with a strong commitment to excellence in MCAD standards and technologies, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-platform environment while delivering high-quality solutions.

  • Proficient in creating high-quality MCAD content that adheres to industry standards.
  • Advanced user of SolidWorks.
  • Deep understanding of mechanical design and drafting principles, including adherence to recognized industry standards (e.g., ASME, ISO) and common engineering practices.
  • Strong knowledge of parametric modeling
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Capable of working in an agile environment with good teamwork and people skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with emphasis on organization, methodical, with strong technical abilities.
  • Capable of managing schedules and deliverables for design projects.

Education & Experience

  • B.Sc. or an Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a certificate from a known establishment in a relevant field.
  • Proficient user with 3-4 years of proven recent SolidWorks experience.

Nice-to-Have Skills and Competencies

These skills, competencies, and qualifications would set you, as a candidate, apart but are not required for the role.

  • Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) or equivalent proficiency.
  • Experience with sheet metal and CNC-based designs.
  • Familiarity with PLM/PDM systems, engineering change processes, and BOM structuring.
  • Experience supporting MEP-integrated mechanical designs in a production setting.

Compensation

Offers are based on a combination of experience, skills, and location. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role is $120,000 - $150,000 annually for Hayward, CA.
