The opportunity

The Modern Workplace Engineer is a technical-focused role within the Modern Workplace Engineering team. You will contribute to the strategic direction, governance, and operational maturity of the Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and Endpoint environments at SNHU.

You will be a technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, automating, and supporting enterprise Microsoft 365 solutions. You will independently troubleshoot complex technical issues, develop scalable automation, and partner with stakeholders to continuously improve the reliability, security, and operational maturity of the Modern Workplace platform. You will exercise sound technical judgment while mentoring peers through engineering best practices. You will report to the Modern Workplace Engineering Manager. #LI-Remote

What you'll do:

• Design, implement, and support enterprise Microsoft 365 solutions, including SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Entra ID, Power Platform, and Copilot technologies while maintaining governance, security, and operational standards.

• Lead technical implementation efforts for Modern Workplace initiatives by translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions and delivering projects independently.

• Act as a liaison with stakeholders, department leaders, and peer IT teams, ensuring alignment of initiatives with institutional priorities.

• Develop automation and administrative tooling using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, and other supported APIs to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and platform management.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex Microsoft 365 platform issues through systematic investigation, root cause analysis, and implementation of long-term corrective solutions.

• Represent Modern Workplace Engineering in key forums, providing polished and professional communication that strengthens the credibility of ITS.

• Continuously identify opportunities to automate repetitive administrative tasks, improve operational processes, and reduce manual effort through engineering-first solutions.

• Independently research unfamiliar technologies, evaluate solution options, and recommend technically sound approaches while maintaining ownership of assigned work through implementation and operational support.

What we're looking for:

• 4+ years of Microsoft 365 product administration experience

• Advanced administration experience across Microsoft 365, including SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and Entra ID.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Equivalent of experience in lieu of degree acceptable

• Working knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems

• Experience developing automation using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, REST APIs, or Power Platform technologies.

• Experience designing and supporting enterprise SharePoint Online solutions, including governance, site lifecycle management, permissions, automation, and integration with Microsoft 365 services.

• Awareness of patch management, compliance, and security best practices.
