About Us

Metronome is the leading usage-based billing platform built for modern software companies. With Metronome, companies can launch products faster, offer any pricing model, and streamline finance workflows without writing code.

Our platform computes millions of invoices per billing period and is scaling rapidly to accommodate new customers, saving them hours of development time and manual invoicing and enabling them to use consumption data to better serve their customers. Our customers love our product and approach, and we’re humbled to work with amazing companies like OpenAI, Databricks, NVIDIA, Confluent, and Anthropic.

You'll be joining an experienced team that includes founders who have successfully built and sold startups before. Our founders and employees also have direct experience building and scaling teams through massive growth at companies like Dropbox, Clever, and New Relic. On the back of this experience and our success-to-date, we’ve raised over $128M from leading investors including NEA, Andreessen Horowitz, General Catalyst, Elad Gil, and Workday Ventures. We’re also proud to have founders and executives of companies like Segment, Plaid, Looker, Gitlab, Confluent, HashiCorp, and Snowflake, as investors who have experienced the pain we're solving firsthand.

About the Role

We're looking for a hybrid go-to-market professional who combines the outbound creativity of an SDR/AE with the technical depth of an SE and an obsession with AI. This is a hands-on role for someone who can open doors, answer technical questions, build lightweight demos, and inspire prospects at the hottest AI companies.

What You’ll Do
  • Build and execute outreach strategies for target accounts that combine business value with technical credibility, opening doors at top AI and infrastructure companies
  • Qualify inbound leads and conduct discovery by understanding technical requirements, use cases, and buying processes across executives and technical buyers
  • Build and deliver product demos and technical walk-throughs tailored to prospect use cases, such as migrating from seat-based to usage-based pricing or AI monetization strategies
  • Act as the first-line technical responder to prospect questions, translating complex customer problems into crisp narratives and solution positioning
  • Partner with marketing, product, and engineering teams to run prospect engagement programs, feed back market insights, and refine outbound campaigns
Impact You'll Have
  • Accelerate pipeline generation by combining outbound motion with technical credibility, opening conversations that convert to qualified opportunities
  • Shape how top AI companies think about monetization by delivering tailored demos that showcase the art of the possible with usage-based billing
  • Define the playbook for technical outbound at Metronome, establishing processes and best practices that scale as the team grows
  • Bridge the gap between prospects and product by surfacing market insights that inform product strategy and demo requirements
  • Mentor future SDR and BDR hires by modeling the intersection of technical depth and storytelling excellence
Qualifications
  • Strong technical curiosity with the ability to quickly learn product APIs, workflows, and integration patterns
  • Passion for AI and modern software infrastructure, with genuine excitement about helping companies monetize usage-based offerings
  • Proven track record of building trust with both executives and engineers through exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Comfort with ambiguity and entrepreneurial mindset—if a demo doesn't exist, you'll build it; if a question goes unanswered, you'll figure it out
Bonus Points
  • Experience with sales tools (Salesforce, outbound sequencing platforms) and comfort with outbound motion is a plus.
  • Bonus points for creating demo environments or lightweight integrations

The actual base salary will vary based on factors including market value, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process, and previous experience. The listed range above should serve as a guideline and may be modified at any time.

We also conduct an annual pay audit to ensure pay is fair, indexed to market value, and that pay takes into account continued performance at Metronome. If you would like to learn more about our philosophy or about why we are all billing nerds, send us a message. We’d love to talk!
