About the Role

The Operations Associate keeps Honey Homes' field operation running smoothly day-to-day and builds Claude-powered tools and agents that take rote workflows off the team. This is a foundational role for someone who wants a front-row seat to ops at a fast-growing company, working alongside the Head of Operations and broader leadership.

Automation is core to how this role operates, not a "later" phase. You'll own the foundational ops work (parts, IT, logistics) and build the systems that increasingly run it for you.

This is a hybrid role: Oakland HQ, 4 days/week in-office.

Profile
  • Hungry, detail-driven, high agency.

  • Claude-fluent, or eager to become so. You'll be expected to automate parts of your own job and broader ops workflows using AI tools.

  • Comfortable owning the unglamorous, foundational ops work (parts, IT, logistics) while learning the business from the ground up.

  • Experience with accounting reconciliation, expense management, inventory tracking, or similarly detail-heavy operational work. You've owned a workflow where accuracy mattered.

  • Systems-minded. You instinctively look for ways to streamline, automate, and scale a process rather than just run it manually.

  • Strong written and verbal communication. You'll work across handypeople, field managers, Member Success, and leadership.

Systems and Tools

You don't need every one of these on day one, but you should be hands-on with most:

  • AI tools: Claude (or similar) used daily in real work; experience building automations or agents (e.g., Claude Code) is a strong plus. Building them is a core part of this job.

  • Spreadsheets: strong Google Sheets / Excel, comfortable with lookups, matching, and reconciliation-style work.

  • Workplace stack: Google Workspace, Slack, Notion.

  • iPhone fluency: hands-on iPhone setup, configuration, and troubleshooting; Mac familiarity and mobile device management (MDM) experience are pluses.

  • Expense and accounting tools: Ramp and other expense-related software or accounting tools. The parts workflow is receipt-matching, reconciliation, and account charging at its core.

  • Nice to have: basic SQL or BI-tool familiarity (e.g., Metabase) for digging into ops data.

Core Scope

The role spans two foundational ops domains, Parts and IT and Equipment, plus a standing mandate to automate that work with Claude-powered tools and agents. The expectation is that you don't just run these workflows; you build the systems that run them.

Parts

Automate the parts workflow end-to-end, including receipt matching and member charging, working in tandem with engineering and using Claude Code.

  • Match handyperson parts receipts to member jobs and charge member accounts accurately, reconciling discrepancies with Member Success.

  • Manage returns and credit accounts as appropriate.

  • Partner with Field Managers and handypeople to track down missing information and resolve mismatches quickly.

  • Continuously improve the tooling behind this workflow so it gets faster and more accurate over time.

IT and Equipment

Build sustainable systems to track and manage the company's devices and accounts.

  • Maintain reliable, durable tracking of phones and accounts across the field and ops teams.

  • Automate the creation of accounts and platform access for new employees.

  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT equipment (phones, laptops, peripherals).

  • Build automated systems to remotely troubleshoot and resolve device and account issues.

  • Coordinate shipping, receiving, and account termination for transitions; keep the storeroom stocked across regions.

Operations Automation

Take rote internal workflows, starting with your own (parts reconciliation, IT onboarding) and expanding into adjacent ops work as you build trust, and turn them into Claude-powered tools and agents.

  • Build SatApps, scheduled tasks, and agents that take recurring, manual work off the broader ops team.

  • Create and maintain Claude-powered agents that assist the field team, the handyperson team, and the field management process.

  • Build sustainable systems and processes that extend the field management team's scope of management, letting each manager cover more handypeople and more ground without added overhead.

  • Run small experiments, write up the results, and iterate.

  • Over time, own a cross-functional ops initiative end-to-end (onboarding tooling, parts automation, or similar).

What Success Looks Like at Month 6
  • 24-hour SLA on parts hit reliably; receipts and chargebacks fully reconciled, increasingly handled by automation rather than manual effort.

  • 100% of new hires set up on Day 1; field IT issues resolved same-day if blocking work.

  • Account creation and provisioning for new employees is automated rather than manual.

  • Storeroom is fully stocked; no last-minute scrambles for new-hire gear.

  • 1-2 Claude-built workflows or agents shipped that take meaningful, recurring work off the team.

  • At least one agent running in production that automates a previously manual ops process end-to-end.

  • A growing library of automations you own and maintain, each one measurably reducing manual ops hours.

  • Trusted by handypeople, field managers, and Member Success as the go-to operator for parts and IT.

Competencies
  • Detail-driven. You spot inconsistencies before they become problems and love bringing order to complexity.

  • Urgency-biased. You understand that delays impact member experience and field efficiency.

  • Systems-minded. You see opportunities to streamline, automate, and scale processes.

  • First-principles problem solving. You're not afraid to experiment, learn, and improve fast.

  • Tech-savvy and AI-native. You can troubleshoot devices, manage software accounts, and build Claude-powered automations and agents rather than just consume them.

  • Communicates clearly. You ensure everyone, from handypeople to leadership, has accurate information.

  • Acts like an owner. You take pride in running a tight ship and supporting a high-performing team.

Why This Role Is Interesting
  • Front-row seat to ops at a fast-growing membership company.

  • Direct working relationship with leadership (Head of Ops, founders).

  • AI-native by design. You'll spend real time building Claude tools and agents, not just using them.

  • Natural growth path into broader operations leadership over time.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Compensation: $65,000 / year, full-time.

  • Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA, Flexible PTO, and stock options in a growing company.

  • Location: Oakland HQ, hybrid, 4 days/week in-office.

We are an equal opportunity employer and consider all qualified applicants equally without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran status, or disability status. Women and under-represented minorities are encouraged to apply.
