The Team
The Production Ops team is responsible for executing data collection and evaluation at scale across multiple sites. The team includes shift leads, operators, and an annotation pipeline - and is growing rapidly as Pi expands to international locations. You will build the operational infrastructure for this team and scale it from its current early stage to a professional, multi-site production operation.
This is a rare opportunity to build the production backbone of a frontier robotics AI company. You will own how real-world data is generated at scale - translating research plans into reliable, high-quality production across multiple sites.
The systems you build will directly determine the pace and quality of model progress.
In This Role You will be Responsible for
- Production Execution: Own the end-to-end production floor - shift management, operator performance, throughput, and data quality adherence across all sites.
- Workforce Systems: Build scheduling, attendance tracking, and performance management systems for a growing hourly workforce. There is almost no operational infrastructure today - you are building from scratch.
- Quality Control: Move quality assurance from a downstream audit function to inline production controls. You own data quality at the point of collection.
- Operator Pipeline: Own operator hiring, onboarding, training, and certification. Build the systems that turn new hires into effective operators quickly.
- Multi-Site Operations: Scale production execution across domestic and international sites. Ensure consistent quality and throughput regardless of location.
- Compliance: Own operational compliance with California labor law – meal/rest breaks, overtime, scheduling – partnering with our HR team on policy and our legal counsel on risk.
What We Hope You’ll Bring
- 10–15+ years of experience, including building and scaling a multi-shift production operation with 100+ hourly workers.
- Track record of building workforce management systems (scheduling, compliance, performance management) from scratch or near-scratch.
- Technical intuition for data quality - you understand what good looks like even if you didn’t design the process yourself.
- Comfort with ambiguity and speed. We are 60 people. You will be building process where none exists.
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, or ML data operations.
- Experience scaling operations internationally.
- Background in manufacturing or production environments where the output is technical, not just logistics.
Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
