  • Coach managers through performance conversations, personnel decisions, and sensitive employee matters
  • Build managers’ confidence by providing practical tools, frameworks, and guidance
  • Develop a strong understanding of business priorities and translate them into effective people strategies
  • Identify workforce trends, risks, and opportunities and recommend appropriate actions
  • Partner with leaders to improve team effectiveness, accountability, engagement, and retention
  • Support organizational changes with thoughtful planning, communication, and implementation
  • Build trusted relationships with employees at all levels, including frontline workers

  • Assess current HR programs, systems, and processes to identify gaps, risks, and opportunities
  • Determine what the HR process overhaul should include and develop a practical implementation roadmap
  • Lead improvements from initial design through execution, adoption, and ongoing evaluation
  • Strengthen hiring, onboarding, payroll, benefits, performance management, employee relations, workplace safety, and compliance processes
  • Simplify work through automation, standardization, outsourcing, or the elimination of unnecessary steps
  • Create clear, accessible resources that help managers and employees navigate HR processes
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure HR systems provide reliable workforce information
  • Develop scalable practices for hourly, seasonal, and geographically distributed employees
  • Ensure compliance with California employment requirements and other applicable regulations

Employee Experience and Culture

  • Help create a consistent, respectful, and accessible employee experience across roles and locations
  • Support employee engagement, recognition, communication, and culture-building initiatives
  • Ensure Spanish-speaking employees receive the same quality of communication, support, and access to resources as English-speaking employees
  • Gather employee feedback and translate it into practical improvements
  • Model direct communication, accountability, sound judgment, and care in every interaction

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, including experience as an HR Business Partner or in a comparable advisory role
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate directly and effectively with frontline employees in both languages
  • Current residence in California and the ability to travel quickly and regularly to operating locations

  • Ability to assess an HR function, define the required process improvements, and execute the changes
  • Hands-on experience supporting core HR functions across the employee lifecycle
  • Working knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance
  • Strong project-management and process-design capabilities
  • Comfort using technology and automation to improve accuracy, efficiency, and the employee experience
  • Ability to work effectively amid ambiguity, changing priorities, and limited infrastructure

Ideal Working Style

  • Take ownership and follow through on commitments
  • Communicate candidly, respectfully, and directly
  • Build trust with employees at every level of the organization
  • Approach sensitive employee matters with sound judgment and care
  • Prefer practical, straightforward solutions over unnecessary complexity
  • Move comfortably between strategic planning and detailed execution
  • Lead by example and remain accessible to both managers and frontline employees
  • Bring a continuous-improvement mindset to systems, processes, and the employee experience

Compensation
