About the Company

At Flow, we’re reimagining what it means to live, work, and connect. More than just a real estate company, Flow is a brand, a technology platform, and an operations ecosystem spanning condominiums, hotels, multifamily residences, and office spaces. We’re building a new kind of living experience: one that’s flexible, connected, and designed to create genuine community and real value for the people who call Flow home.

Our mission is oneness:  prioritizing our residents and their experiences, and fostering connection with ourselves, their neighbors, and the natural world. By putting people at the center of everything we do, we’re creating vibrant, human-centered communities where life, work, creativity, and play all come together in one place.

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on, versatile People Operations Manager to establish our HR presence in California. As our first People hire in the state, this role sits within a well-resourced People and TA organization and reports directly to the Director of People. While you will have the full support of a seasoned team on the East Coast, you will serve as the sole HR representative on the ground in California — owning the day-to-day people experience for our West Coast operations as we continue to grow in the market.

This is a true generalist role with a field operations lens. You'll own the day-to-day HR experience across our California properties in San Jose and corporate offices in San Francisco and Palo Alto, partner closely with on-site leaders, and keep things running smoothly — operationally and culturally — as we grow in the market.

Responsibilities

    People & HR
  • Serve as the primary HR point of contact for all California-based employees and on-site leaders
Own employee relations end-to-end — investigations, conflict resolution, performance management, and compliance with California employment law
  • Manage the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, and everything in between
  • Establish and maintain a consistent onsite presence across the California portfolio, visiting assigned properties at least once per week to support leaders, engage employees, address concerns proactively, and ensure alignment with company standards and culture.
  • Maintain Rippling accuracy for all CA employees — lifecycle events, data integrity, and policy administration
  • Partner with the People team on performance review cycles, compensation, and HR initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with California-specific federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Recruiting Support

  • Partner with our TA team (based in FL) to support sourcing and coordination needs for California front-line roles when vacancies arise
  • Serve as the local point of contact for candidates and hiring managers, bridging the time zone gap as needed

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of HR/People experience, ideally in a multi-site, property management, hospitality, or field-based environment
  • Strong working knowledge of California employment law
  • Comfortable operating autonomously with a "see it, own it, fix it" mindset
  • Experience supporting recruiting or sourcing is a plus
  • Highly organized and hands-on — comfortable owning both people matters and the day-to-day operational needs of a physical office environment
  • Excellent communicator — you'll be the bridge between on-site teams and the East Coast People function
  • Spanish fluency is a plus

What Success Looks Like

  • On-site leaders feel supported and have a trusted HR partner they go to first
  • Employee relations matters are handled proactively, compliantly, and with sound judgment
  • New hires ramp quickly and feel set up for success from Day 1
  • The office runs smoothly, and employees enjoy coming in

Benefits

We take care of our people so they can do their best work.

  • Health and Wellness  Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance and parental leave benefits. On-staff doctor, free therapy through SpringHealth, acupuncture, an Employee Assistance Program, and other wellness offerings.
  • Time Off  PTO and paid holidays.
  • Financial  401(k) retirement plan, healthcare and dependent care FSAs, HSA-compatible plan options with annual employer HSA funding and pre-tax commuter benefits.
  • Life at Flow  Weekly catered lunches, wellness classes and employee discounts on Flow hotel stays, grocer products, and merch.

Flow is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and hires regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity and/or expression, pregnancy, Veteran status any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law. In addition, we provide reasonable accommodation for qualified individuals with disabilities.

  • Major Tech Employers: Google, Apple, Salesforce, Meta
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, fintech, consumer technology, software
  • Funding Landscape: $50.5 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
