Waymo is an autonomous driving technology company with the mission to be the world's most trusted driver. Since its start as the Google Self-Driving Car Project in 2009, Waymo has focused on building the Waymo Driver—The World's Most Experienced Driver™—to improve access to mobility while saving thousands of lives now lost to traffic crashes. The Waymo Driver powers Waymo’s fully autonomous ride-hail service and can also be applied to a range of vehicle platforms and product use cases. The Waymo Driver has provided over ten million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving over 100 million miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 15+ U.S. states.

Waymo's People team recruits and supports the world's best talent (including, we hope, you). Our HR business partners, program administrators, staffers, and compensation specialists help our employees attain their full potential in a healthy, considerate and supportive environment. We take our role as stewards of Waymo's culture seriously.

This role follows a hybrid work schedule and reports to our Manager, People & Talent Acquisition Operations.

You will:

  • Immigration & Mobility: Provide expert consultations to employees and recruiters. Serve as the signatory backup for immigration paperwork and manage complex mobility cases, including Geo-flex, part-time transitions, and global assignments (STA/LTA).
  • Operational Execution: Oversee the I-9 Right to Work program, offboarding support, and manage the HR queue, including business visa letters, international VOEs, and custom employment letters.
  • Scaling Engagements: Manage the increased volume of research collaborations and inter-company engagements, ensuring administrative processes scale with business growth.
  • System Optimization: Propose and implement improvements for People Operations tools and external partnerships to increase efficiency.
  •  End-to-End Case Ownership: Independently manage Tier 1 and Tier 2 requests for FMLA, CFRA, Military, Parental, and disability (STD/LTD) leaves. Track cases from initial inquiry through the return-to-work process.
  • The Interactive Process: Facilitate the ADA interactive process, partnering with managers and Talent Acquisition to identify reasonable accommodations, light-duty, or transitional placements while mitigating legal exposure.
  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure multi-state compliance and maintain strict confidentiality of medical records. Manage EDD forms, HRIS record updates, and state employer reporting with scrupulous attention to detail.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the SME for leave policies, deliver benefits presentations during onboarding, provide onboarding support, maintain the "Benefits at a Glance" and internal Waymonewt sites, employee offboarding support, and helping with signature processes where needed.
  • Analytics: Generate comprehensive reports and perform trend analysis on leave and accommodation metrics to drive data-driven process changes for the larger organization.

You have:

  • A minimum of 6+ years of relevant professional experience within Human Resources, generalist support, or specialized leave administration.
  • A minimum of 2+ years of experience managing LOAs or working on the interactive accommodations process
  • Independent Delivery: Proven ability to drive execution across teams and manage projects autonomously throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Strategic Problem Solving: Ability to anticipate roadblocks in HR workflows and propose scalable solutions that align with Waymo’s long-term objectives.
  • Data Confidentiality: Expert-level capability in managing highly sensitive medical and personnel data with discretion.

We prefer:

  • Regulatory Mastery: Thorough understanding of legislative frameworks including ADA, FMLA, CFRA, and PFL.
  • Proficiency in ServiceNow or similar platforms to track metrics, streamline internal ticketing, and improve operational transparency
