Design, validate, and qualify workstation and server platforms (multi-GPU, cooling, power). Run benchmarking and system-level tests, own L2/L3 escalations, troubleshoot Linux GPU stacks, perform on-site installs, and feed field findings into product revisions while producing documentation and verifying vendor performance claims.

Overview

Corsair is seeking a Product Development & Support Engineer, Workstations & Servers to design, build, and qualify the platforms behind the Corsair Pro product line. The role is responsible for designing workstation and server configurations, including thermal and cooling architecture, and for validating those designs through benchmarking and system-level testing. This role is also responsible for L2/L3 escalation support on shipping platforms — the engineer who qualifies a platform owns the escalations that come back on it. This role will work directly with sales engineering, product marketing, and silicon and platform partners, and is expected to feed field findings back into subsequent platform revisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build workstation and server platform configurations
    • Component selection and compatibility validation across CPU, motherboard, chassis, GPU, storage, and networking
    • Internal cooling design, including air-cooled and direct liquid cooled architectures — airflow, fan curves, thermal headroom, and acoustic behavior under sustained load
    • Power budgeting and PSU sizing, including rack-level draw and circuit requirements for high-density multi-GPU configurations
  • Qualify and validate new platforms before they ship
    • Execute burn-in, thermal soak, stability, power, and interoperability testing against defined pass/fail criteria
    • Qualify BIOS, firmware, BMC, and GPU driver stacks against each hardware configuration
    • Define what "validated" means for each platform and hold that standard through to production release
  • Benchmark platform performance
    • Develop and run benchmark methodology across AI training, inference, and HPC workloads
    • Characterize gen-over-gen performance and produce the data that supports datasheets, product pages, and sales enablement material
    • Verify vendor-published performance claims against Corsair Pro configurations before those claims are repeated publicly
  • Own L2/L3 escalation support for shipping workstation and server platforms
    • Serve as the escalation point for issues L1 support cannot resolve
    • Troubleshoot Linux environments in depth — Ubuntu, Rocky, RHEL — including GPU driver and CUDA/ROCm stack issues, kernel and module faults, storage, and networking
    • Diagnose hardware failures via IPMI/BMC, remote console, and log analysis; drive RMA root-cause analysis through to supplier resolution
    • Travel to customer sites for on-site diagnosis and cluster installation where escalations require it
  • Close the loop between field support and product design
    • Author knowledge base articles, runbooks, and troubleshooting documentation so recurring issues stop reaching escalation
    • Track failure patterns across the installed base and translate them into design changes on subsequent platform revisions
  • Support technical accuracy across customer-facing material
    • Review published specifications, configuration guidance, and technical content against validated hardware data

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in high-performance computing, workstation architecture, or enterprise systems design, including hands-on integration and validation of multi-GPU systems.
  • Strong background in thermal management for dense compute platforms — air cooling design, and familiarity with direct liquid cooling implementations.
  • Deep Linux administration and troubleshooting capability across Ubuntu, Rocky, and RHEL, with working knowledge of GPU driver and CUDA/ROCm stacks; competence with Windows Pro/Server.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer-facing technical escalation, on-site installation, and proof-of-concept engagement with customers and partners.
  • Scripting and automation capability, primarily bash, applied to validation, test tooling, and system deployment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical findings into clear guidance for sales, marketing, and customers.
  • Willingness to work in a lab and data center environment, including rack-and-stack work and periodic travel.
