About Etched

Etched is building the world’s first AI inference system purpose-built for transformers - delivering over 10x higher performance and dramatically lower cost and latency than a B200. With Etched ASICs, you can build products that would be impossible with GPUs, like real-time video generation models and extremely deep & parallel chain-of-thought reasoning agents. Backed by hundreds of millions from top-tier investors and staffed by leading engineers, Etched is redefining the infrastructure layer for the fastest growing industry in history.

Job Summary

We’re looking for a PLM Architect to own the technical foundation and long-term direction of our Teamcenter ecosystem. This role is equal parts strategist and hands-on problem solver -- someone who can define a scalable architecture while making pragmatic decisions in a fast-moving environment.

You’ll play a key role in guiding how and when we extend Teamcenter beyond out-of-the-box capabilities. As our business evolves, customization is becoming increasingly necessary, and we need someone with the judgment to know when it’s worth it—and when it’s not.

We’re looking for someone who is pragmatic, not dogmatic—comfortable applying best practices thoughtfully rather than rigidly. You’re flexible, easy to work with, and bring a low-ego, collaborative approach. You think long-term but know how to keep momentum, and you’re comfortable operating in ambiguity and evolving priorities. You’re willing to challenge assumptions when needed, while still driving decisions forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and oversee the implementation of Teamcenter and related PLM solutions.

  • Define and maintain the technical roadmap, standards, and best practices.

  • Provide strategic technical guidance and maintain a clear “big picture” view of the system landscape.

  • Ensure solution designs meet business requirements, performance expectations, and long-term scalability needs.

  • Evaluate and approve technical designs, integrations, and customizations.

  • Partner closely with business stakeholders to translate evolving needs into sustainable technical solutions.

  • Establish governance around customization vs. out-of-the-box (OOTB) usage.

  • Guide development teams in building high-quality, maintainable extensions where necessary.

You may be a good fit if you have (Must-have qualifications)

  • 10+ years of experience in PLM, with deep expertise in Teamcenter architecture, configuration, and customization.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Proven track record of leading complex PLM implementations and architectural decisions at scale.

  • Strong understanding of PLM data models, integrations, and enterprise system landscapes.

  • Demonstrated ability to make sound trade-offs between out-of-the-box functionality and custom development.

  • Experience operating in fast-paced, evolving environments; startup experience is a strong plus.

  • Ability to move fluidly between strategic planning and hands-on technical problem solving.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence both technical and business stakeholders.

Strong candidates may also have experience with (Nice-to-have qualifications)

  • Familiarity with upgrade planning and execution in customized environments, including strategies to reduce regression risk and technical debt

  • Experience introducing or scaling modern development practices (version control, CI/CD, automated testing) within PLM ecosystems

  • Prior experience acting as a technical lead or mentor, guiding developers and shaping implementation approaches across projects

  • Exposure to hybrid architectures, including when to offload logic to middleware or external services rather than embedding everything in Teamcenter

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision packages with generous premium coverage

    • $500 per month credit for waiving medical benefits

  • Housing subsidy of $2k per month for those living within walking distance of the office

  • Relocation support for those moving to San Jose (Santana Row)

  • Various wellness benefits covering fitness, mental health, and more

  • Daily lunch and dinner in our office

  • Unlimited compute budget subject to ROI justification

How we’re different

Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.

We are a fully in-person team in San Jose and Taipei, and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.
