This role additionally has a focus on understanding the buyer needs that Surescripts portfolio of offerings (including future offerings) can solve. Working within Strategy’s “two in a box” partnership with Product teams, this role supports Strategy’s ownership of the commercial relationship for assigned products, including deals, pricing, and the market-facing narrative. This role also drives portfolio and life cycle management of Surescripts’ existing offerings, ensuring each product’s positioning, pricing, and investment remain aligned with market needs and business performance from launch through maturity and retirement.

The Principal Commercial Strategy Advisor develops value propositions, ROI models, and pricing recommendations for assigned products, and provides analysis and recommendations to senior leaders and inputs to key cross-functional partners involved in the go-to-market and development of our solutions, including with partners. This role will lead and develop business cases for new opportunities in partnership with other departments such as Product and Marketing, and represent recommendations to other partners in Growth and Strategy. This role requires use of analytical skills and strong business intuition to synthesize and make recommendations based on imperfect data. This role will work in a fast-paced environment, independently and cross-functionally (across growth, product, sales, account management, implementation, finance, marketing, business intelligence, etc.), to drive action across the organization.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify industry trends, competitive landscape, where the company has a right to win, and potential targets (partnership and M&A).

  • Leverage a deep understanding of Surescripts existing business and market segments to build insights on the dynamics of buyers, products, and competitors
  • Lead the evaluation of new opportunities and current offerings, including to:
    • Identify areas of innovation opportunity, develop, and evaluate ideas, and build business cases for offerings, and support the related strategic narrative, including board communications.
    • Support development and updates of the 5-year growth plan, by customer segment and product, at least twice a year and upon any material change, and use insights to guide segment planning and prioritization
    • Contribute to the development of a product's go-to-market plan and work with the sales and marketing team to execute.
    • Manage assigned products across their life cycle, monitoring performance, adoption, and profitability; identify opportunities to enhance, reprice, reposition, or sunset offerings; and recommend portfolio investment and prioritization decisions in partnership with Product and Finance.
    • Develop recommended pricing bands, pricing structure/model, overall terms, and incentives for Pricing Committee approval, in collaboration with Finance, and help maintain directionally consistent pricing across like customers
  • Lead or support deal valuation as directed including partnerships and M&A.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional analytical projects such as:
    • Partnership with Sales, Account Management, and Legal on pricing and contractual terms for deals
    • Partnership with Marketing to translate the Strategy-owned value proposition and ROI model into messaging, Ideal Customer Profiles (ICPs), and field enablement
    • Participation in product-area cross-team meetings with Product and Sales/Account Management to share market insights, review Early Adopters, Key Deals, and Key Projects, and track progress against the growth plan
