Principal Data Engineer

We are currently seeking a Principal/Lead Analytics Engineer to join our rapidly growing team.  Specific job title and offer to align with the qualifications of the candidate.

Compensation: $120,000-$150,000 annually, dependent on experience. 

Location: Irvine, CA Hybrid (In-office every Tuesday).

Schedule: Monday–Friday, with weekend on-call availability required as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Own bridge between data engineering, data science, and business intelligence for data analytics.
• Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes using Airflow, dbt, and custom Python scripts.
• Design and implement scalable, robust, and efficient data pipelines.
• Demonstrate and ensure best practices for data security, data validation and data quality are in place and maintained.
• Stay current with the latest trends and developments in data engineering; champion internal adoption and change management of the latest practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Advanced proficiency with Python.
• Advanced proficiency with SQL.
• Experience with dbt core cli preferred.
• Advanced skills with database architecture and data pipelining.
• Experience utilizing cloud services to develop ETL/ELT pipelines; AWS Lambda, S3, etc., preferred.
• Experience using orchestrator, scheduling, and monitoring tools; Airflow and cron preferred.
• Experience leveraging git for codebase source control; experience developing GitHub/Bitbucket CI/CD pipelines preferred.
• Experience with Docker and docker-compose preferred.
• Proven ability to position oneself to advise and teach across a data organization.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience.
•  Master’s degree preferred.
