Principal EA Engineering Lead

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly technical and strategic Principal Engineering Lead to lead the engineering organization responsible for our Enterprise Applications portfolio. This individual will serve as the technical leader for a team supporting Salesforce, DealCloud, DevOps, and Quality Engineering while partnering closely with Product Specialists and Functional Architecture to deliver scalable, AI-enabled business solutions.

This is a hands-on player-coach role, not a traditional people management position. The successful candidate is expected to actively participate in architecture, solution design, proof-of-concepts, code reviews, and complex technical problem solving while leading and developing a high-performing engineering organization. Approximately 40–50% of the role will remain hands-on technical work, with the remainder focused on engineering leadership, mentoring, delivery, and cross-functional collaboration. 

What you'll do:

• Set and own the technical direction for enterprise applications — leading architecture reviews, solution design, and proof-of-concepts across Salesforce, Intapp DealCloud, and related platforms while staying close enough to the work to remove blockers and solve the hardest problems alongside your team.

• Define engineering standards, coding guidelines, and development best practices, and hold the organization to them — including CI/CD, automated testing, DevSecOps, observability, and a production support model with clear SLAs and root cause accountability.

• Champion AI-assisted development as a daily practice, lead proof-of-concepts for emerging technologies, and build reusable frameworks that accelerate delivery across the portfolio.

• Partner with product specialists and functional architects during discovery to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions — and provide technical leadership across the organization's most complex cross-functional initiatives.

• Coach and develop engineers at every level through active involvement in their technical growth, manage capacity across concurrent initiatives, and build a team culture defined by ownership, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.

What you'll need:

• Proven experience as a senior technical leader in a complex enterprise applications environment, with a track record of setting architecture direction and staying hands-on in delivery — not just managing people.

• Deep Salesforce development experience, including platform architecture, integrations, and customizations; familiarity with Intapp DealCloud or a comparable CRM platform is a plus.

• Strong DevOps foundations: CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, release management, observability tooling, and a working knowledge of DevSecOps practices.

• Experience integrating AI tooling into engineering workflows and a genuine interest in pushing further — this team is expected to lead by example on AI-assisted development.

• The communication range to work across audiences — as comfortable driving an architecture decision with senior engineers as explaining a technical trade-off to a business leader.
