OverviewAbout the role

Consilio’s Legal Management Consulting team advises corporate legal departments on how to improve the way they work. This role focuses on our Legal GenAI work: helping legal departments decide where generative AI is worth using, choose the right tools and put them to work safely.

Our GenAI work includes strategy and readiness, use-case identification and prioritisation, tool selection, pilot design and implementation planning, AI-enabled workflow redesign, prompt and workflow development, governance and risk, and training and adoption.

As a Senior Consultant, you will lead substantial GenAI workstreams and, where appropriate, smaller client engagements. You will work directly with General Counsel, Heads of Legal Operations and other senior stakeholders to understand their challenges, identify where GenAI can help, structure solutions and translate analysis into pragmatic recommendations.

You will combine strong consulting delivery with credible, hands-on GenAI knowledge, team leadership and commercial awareness. You will also play an important role in developing junior colleagues, shaping our methodologies, supporting business development and strengthening Consilio’s market position.

ResponsibilitiesWhat you will do
  • Lead major workstreams and selected engagements across Legal GenAI strategy, readiness, tool selection, pilots and adoption.
  • Structure consulting engagements and define the analysis, activities and deliverables required to address client objectives.
  • Facilitate workshops and interviews with General Counsel, Heads of Legal Operations and senior legal, procurement, technology and business stakeholders.
  • Synthesise complex qualitative and quantitative information into clear findings, strategic options and actionable recommendations.
  • Lead Legal GenAI strategy and readiness engagements, assessing business needs, use cases, processes, technology landscape, data and knowledge sources, governance, risk, organisational readiness and adoption requirements.
  • Lead Legal GenAI selection and pilot engagements, including use-case prioritisation, requirements, vendor evaluation, success criteria, benchmark tasks, user testing, business case development, risk and governance considerations and implementation planning.
  • Design AI-enabled legal workflows, identifying where GenAI, agentic workflows, automation and human legal judgement should be combined to improve legal service delivery.
  • Develop and guide GenAI enablement assets including prompt libraries, reusable workflows, prompt-testing methodologies, evaluation criteria, user guidance, training and adoption approaches.
  • Challenge AI-led assumptions and help clients determine where GenAI genuinely creates value and where conventional technology or process change is the better answer.
  • Develop pragmatic GenAI adoption roadmaps that take account of business priorities, dependencies, organisational readiness, risk and available resources.
  • Own the quality and consistency of major client deliverables and ensure recommendations are evidence-based, practical and aligned to client objectives.
  • Manage engagement activities, dependencies, risks and stakeholder expectations in collaboration with the engagement lead.
  • Direct and review the work of Consultants and Junior Consultants and actively support their professional development.
  • Contribute to client proposals, RFP responses, statements of work, scoping and effort estimation.
  • Support business development discussions and help identify opportunities to expand or deepen client relationships.
  • Develop GenAI methodologies, accelerators, points of view, training materials, whitepapers and other thought leadership.
  • Maintain strong awareness of developments in GenAI models, Legal GenAI tools and the wider legal technology market, and translate those developments into practical implications for clients.
QualificationsWhat we are looking for
  • 5–7+ years of relevant experience in legal consulting, legal technology, legal operations, technology-enabled transformation, professional services or an in-house legal function, including recent, direct experience of GenAI work.
  • Strong practical understanding of GenAI and its application within corporate legal departments and professional services, including use-case identification, workflow design, prompting, evaluation, governance, adoption and the limitations of current models.
  • Experience applying GenAI to contracting, for example contract review, drafting or AI-enabled contract lifecycle tools.
  • Hands-on knowledge of enterprise Legal GenAI platforms such as Harvey, Legora, CoCounsel, Wordsmith or equivalent tools, together with prompt development, workflow design or evaluation methodologies.
  • A degree in law, business, finance, information technology, information systems, data science or another relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrable experience leading consulting workstreams or complex technology adoption initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of how corporate legal departments operate and how legal work actually gets done, so that GenAI recommendations are grounded in practice.
  • Strong consulting skills, including problem structuring, stakeholder management, analysis, facilitation and the development of practical recommendations.
  • Experience engaging credibly with senior stakeholders, including General Counsel, Heads of Legal Operations and senior functional leaders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to simplify complex topics without losing their substance.
  • Experience developing executive-level presentations, findings reports, business cases, roadmaps or strategic recommendations.
  • A good understanding of the Legal GenAI market, including the main tools and vendors, and how they fit alongside the other technology legal departments already use.
  • Commercial awareness and an ability to balance client objectives, project scope, quality and delivery requirements.
  • A collaborative leadership style and willingness to remain hands-on when required.
Helpful but not essential
  • Experience translating GenAI opportunities into business cases, roadmaps or technology strategies, including consideration of value, feasibility, risk and organisational impact.
  • Change management experience or certification, for example Prosci.
  • Formal process improvement or business analysis qualifications.
  • Previous consulting or professional services experience with large multinational organisations.
  • A second language relevant to Consilio’s international client base.
What we offer
  • Leadership responsibility on complex engagements with major global legal departments.
  • Direct relationships with senior legal and legal operations leaders.
  • The opportunity to specialise in Legal GenAI, helping major legal departments redesign how legal services are delivered in an AI-enabled environment.
  • A meaningful role in developing Consilio’s GenAI consulting methodologies and market propositions.
  • Responsibility for coaching and developing the next generation of consultants.
  • Opportunities to contribute to business development, thought leadership and the continued growth of the practice.
