About the role

As our Principal Product Designer, you work out of our San Francisco office and lead all of product design at Rox, end to end. You take on the design team we have in place today and continue to scale the charter. The charter is making sure Rox remains a design first product company as we grow.

The challenge and the reward is doing it on the frontier of applied AI, fully integrated with the world's leading applied AI engineering minds, growth strategists, forward deployed engineers and operators.

This is a player coach role. You do the design work yourself and you lead the team. We are hiring at principal level, with a path to grow into Head of Design over time.

Logistics
  • Based in our San Francisco office, in the office five days a week

  • Reports to our head of product

What you will own
  • All of product design for the company, end to end

  • The current design team from day one, and scaling the charter from there

  • Keeping Rox a design first product company as the company grows

  • Working hand in hand with applied AI engineers, growth strategists, forward deployed engineers and operators

  • The design quality bar and design system across every product surface

What we are looking for
  • You live in San Francisco or will relocate, and you work from the office

  • You have led product design end to end at a product company, with a shipped portfolio to show for it

  • You have led and grown a design team, ideally by taking over an existing one

  • You have real experience designing AI or agent products

  • You can build a design first culture, not only run a design process

Strong signals
  • You have made engineers, growth and operators better by sitting inside their work, not handing off to them

  • You have taken a design team through fast change without losing people or the bar

  • You have strong taste, and can explain it in plain words to a non designer

Nice to haves
  • Early stage or high growth company experience

  • Hands on craft in prototyping with code or AI tools

What success looks like in year one
  • The design team is settled, stable and clear on direction

  • Rox is still a design first product company, and you can see it in what ships

  • Design is embedded with applied AI engineering, growth and forward deployed teams, with clear ways of working

  • A hiring plan for the design team is in place and the first key hires are made
