The Role

SoFi is looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead infrastructure and data initiatives for our Home Loans business. In this role, you will own the systems, data models, and operational workflows that power the end-to-end mortgage lifecycle, ensuring our platform is scalable, efficient, and compliant as we grow.

You will focus on modernizing and optimizing how loans are processed, underwritten, and closed, with an emphasis on improving data quality, reducing manual effort, and accelerating cycle times. This includes driving automation across vendor and internal systems, strengthening data validation and synchronization, and enabling reliable, audit-ready processes across the organization.

This is a highly impactful role that sits at the intersection of product, engineering, and operations. You will partner closely with Operations, Risk, Compliance, Capital Markets, and Engineering to deliver systems that improve speed, cost efficiency, and quality across the lending lifecycle.

What you’ll do

  • Define and drive the product vision, strategy, and multi-quarter roadmap for Home Loans infrastructure and data systems
  • Lead initiatives to reduce final approval cycle time and improve overall operational efficiency and cost per funded loan
  • Drive automation of manual processes, including vendor integrations and system enhancements that increase throughput and reliability
  • Improve data validation, accuracy, and consistency across systems, ensuring high-quality inputs into decisioning and downstream workflows
  • Partner with engineering to modernize core systems, including platform migrations and synchronization across web and internal tools
  • Ensure systems and processes meet audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements, working closely with Risk and Compliance teams
  • Collaborate with Capital Markets and Operations teams to support post-close functionality and downstream loan workflows
  • Define and track key performance metrics (e.g., cycle time, cost efficiency, QA/QC outcomes), using data to identify bottlenecks and drive improvements
  • Lead complex, cross-functional initiatives across multiple teams, aligning stakeholders and driving execution against shared goals

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of product management experience, ideally in fintech, lending, or platform/data-focused roles
  • Proven track record of owning complex infrastructure, data, or operational systems and delivering measurable business impact
  • Experience driving workflow optimization, automation, or operational improvements at scale
  • Strong systems thinking, with the ability to understand and improve end-to-end processes across multiple systems and teams
  • Experience working on technically complex products, with the ability to partner closely with engineering on architecture and trade-offs
  • Data-driven mindset, with experience defining metrics and using insights to guide prioritization and decision-making
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to influence across Product, Engineering, Operations, Risk, and Compliance
  • Excellent communication skills, including experience presenting to senior leadership

Nice to have

  • Experience with mortgage systems (e.g., Encompass) or similar loan origination platforms
  • Familiarity with home loan processing, underwriting, or closing workflows
  • Experience supporting audit, compliance, or regulatory requirements in financial services
  • Experience integrating with third-party vendors or external systems
  • Background in capital markets or post-close mortgage processes
  • Experience improving cycle times, cost structures, or operational efficiency in lending
