Akamai Cloud Technology Group empowers customers to build scalable distributed applications across a simple cloud platform. Our Compute Foundations team creates core primitives, APIs, systems, and developer tools. We power compute interactions across the Akamai Cloud platform.

Partner with the best

You will lead the vision, strategy, and execution for how developers interact with Akamai Cloud. In this role, you will evolve enterprise developer tools and pioneer AI-first workflows.

As a Principal Product Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Crafting and driving the multi-year vision, product strategy, and execution roadmap for Akamai Cloud developer tooling
  • Modernizing brownfield enterprise API paths while elevating API quality, consistency, and platform performance
  • Pioneering next-generation developer interfaces for AI agents and LLM-driven workflows using Model Context Protocol endpoints
  • Collaborating with engineering on API design guidelines, OpenAPI standards, schema governance, and API Gateway capabilities
  • Overseeing product development for official developer tools including CLI, SDKs, and Infrastructure as Code providers
  • Influencing strategy of streamlining and unifying the Developer Experience across multiple platforms to ensure consistency and efficiency.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 15 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or its equivalent
  • Have experience designing REST, gRPC, or GraphQL APIs and delivering developer tools like CLIs, SDKs, and Terraform providers
  • Possess solid expertise in API Gateway architectures, traffic management, and authentication protocols such as OAuth2 and mTLS
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of evolving mature developer platforms and managing breaking-change lifecycles without disrupting existing workloads
  • Be familiar with LLM function calling, AI agent frameworks, and emerging protocols like Model Context Protocol
  • Be knowledgeable about open-source developer ecosystems, Infrastructure as Code automation communities, and cloud platforms

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $159,600 - $287,400/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Akamai provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation (in the form of PTO), sick time, family friendly benefits including parental leave and an employee assistance program including a focus on mental and financial wellness; Eligibility requirements apply.
